63 c10 sbc 305 engine/700r4 trans hesitaion

Whats up peeps been a while since my last post..Feels good to be back!!!!So I am having issues with my truck..It has a chevy 305 with fresh heads backed up with a 700r4 trans...I have a small electric pump from peps boys fuel the small beast...It has an accel dizzy,eldelbrock intake mani and 4 barrel edelbrock carb..heads are fresh just did those...I think it has cams and performance cam from previous owner. So it runs nice but most of the time on take off it seems to bog. I have to give it more gas and then it runs smooth. I had my buddy calibrate my carb to see if it would help which it did but still there is some hesitation on take off . I have had this issue for a while now and I want to resolve it..Any Ideas as to what it can be? The filter seemed to be dirty so I took it off and blew through it.It was not clogged at all....What do you guys think it is? Thanks to all ahead of time!

Do you have a vacuum advance...?

I`m asumming you have one, you`ll need to check it first, remove the vacuum line from your carb, pull your distributor cap off and suck on the vacuum line and look at your distributor vacuum advance plate while doing so it should move if not you`ll need to repair if your not moving the advance plate. If this checks out ok then you`ll need to look at your carb thottle pump, bad seal or plugged or out of adjustment.

Allso could be the blow out valve on the carb. Has it ever backfired on you? If the Dizzy checks out i would check timeing, accell pump and blow out valve on the carb. Hope it all works out for ya.

It has no back fired on me yet..I will check timing and the vacuum advance. Thanks for the reply!

I don`t think edelbrocks have power valves only holleys, and the new holleys have been cured of that with a new design in the metering block.
