Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
I just saw this on ebay and came straight over here to see if anybody had posted it yet. It was at the top of the page What an unbelievable find.
What about the SPID having G60 crossed out? And somebody asked the seller about the paint on the cab looking different from the rest of the truck. I guess anytime there's something like this that seems too good to be true people will be skeptical.

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
I am having a hard time believing this. Why would the valve covers paint be peeling.

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
I believe it. How many 1970's still have that valve cover sticker on them? They don't reproduce that decal to my knowledge. Hard to believe it spent the last 40 years about an hour from my hometown, and only 15 min. from where I went to college. Crazy it only made a couple of journeys. Looks 100% authentic to me. Painted body color wood strips, spiral shocks, red oxide primer cab floor, accessory rear bumper, etc. Trevor

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
Would the intake and valve covers look that bad with only 80 miles? I have well over 100 thousand on my 69 and the valve covers are in better shape. Could it get that bad from non use? Didnt they paint those cabs fully assembled? why would the door be a different color than the cab?

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
AirSpeed, there might be the possibility that a big rats nest was resting on the the top of the engine. Atleast around here, if somethig has been sitting for awhile, rats typically set up shop in the engine compartment. The faded paint on the engine could be do to 30 + years of sitting with Rat particles on it? It could have also been blown off during the cleaning up of the truck. Whether it be power washer or detergent. The exterior paint would have been lacquer if I remember right in 70'. If you look at original survivor muscle cars that had lacquer paint, sometimes panels don't match up 100%. Trevor

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
I'm glad there are cats that would wanna pay crazy prices for stuff like that and prolly keep it all original. So I don't have to...
Don't get me wrong... it's a cool truck. But someone said in another thread... "These aren't Camaros or Chevelles... they're just old trucks." I agree 100% with that statement. For me with a true low mile vehicle... I would want documented proof. Not just someones word for it on ebay. Again... beautiful truck... but not for me. Gary

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
pretty sad its sat for 40yrs and has less rust on the undercarriage than then brand new trucks sitting on the lots back east (rusty frames, driveshafts etc.)
as for the paint coming off the engine i would agree its prob. from the cleaning process and time... |

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
Why is the cab floor orange? Could this be another gm screw up like my 69?
It had headliner as an option, but the cab inner panel was not made for it,it did not have the slots in it for the trim,so the dealer cut the trim, and just ran screw up in it. and have you ever seen a 1970 with a white steering wheel? I had one..never seen another one..I even had a 1970 2wd jimmy. it was totaled ,someone hit a tree doing 65 mph in new jersey. I know that is a rare one. |

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
That isn't orange.... it's the primer they used from the factory when they sprayed undercarriages. It is commonly seen on chevelles, camaros, etc. This is the first time I have ever seen it from a truck. Most restored trucks to stock, typically paint everything body color underneath. The factory sprayed the rust oxide primer on everything and then shot the paint. Normally, there is factory overspray underneath where they shot the rocker panels and cab corners. Trevor

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
A guy in the car club I'm in actually helped get this out of the barn it was locked away in. I heard a lot about this several months back but its pretty cool to finally see the pics. He is an auto appraiser and swears this is an original truck.
Looks like a 40 year old truck to me. Somebody will get quiet a nice ride if they have the cash. Jeff

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
I agree about it being harder to find an original truck that isn't all beat to hell... but face it... very few will pull the bucks a Musclecar will. Even a beat Musclecar at that.

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
That truck is authentic. There is another thread here about this truck from not long ago. All the same questions were asked and answered there.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=399906 racer5021 is the owner. Look for his posts starting at post 39 in the thread linked above for the story on the truck.

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,
...some trucks never leave the ranch...or almost never. Instead of put there mileage on a tenth of a mile at a time....they just go a foot at a time...slow.
