A question for the factory original guys
I have a 72' blazer CST. Its factory original color was dark blue and the interior color was parchment (off white). I am trying to buy a reproduction dash pad for the blazer but I don't know what color to get. The dash pad that was on the vehicle was gone before I got it so I don't know what it had. Was the pad parchment (if so they don't repro them), blue, or something else? Thanks for the input.
Also here is another variable. I am planning on putting a tilt column into the blazer. Would this affect the color of the dash pad the factory would have put in? The reason I ask is because my dad has a 72 suburban, factory orange exterior, factory parchment interior and it also has the comfort tilt steering option. In that suburban the sun visors and dash pad are black like the steering wheel and steering column. So I didn't know if they made the dash pad and sun visors black as well if a vehicle had factory tilt.

Re: A question for the factory original guys
Interesting question. I have a 72 Suburban (GMC) that is Bronze, the interior is Bronze with Parchment and the dash pad is brown. No tilt wheel. I think the sun visors are Parchment but I honestly can't remember right now and it's pouring rain outside. I'll check on it later and let you know. The headliner is parchment also, I would imagine the visors would match the headliner on a Suburban? GMC and Chevy could be different too although I doubt it since they were built on the same lines starting in 67 but who really knows?!! I'll check my 72 GMC dealer book later to see if it says anything about it.
Bob

Re: A question for the factory original guys
My 72 has parchment and the dash pad, column and top of the dash are all sandalwood. Sandalwood is a slightly lighter color than the Saddle (brown). Visors are parchment.
I don't know if the tilt would change the color of the dashpad. The tilt column should be black, but I've never really noticed if parchment interiors with tilt have black dashpads, etc. I have seen several parchment/sandalwood interior combos. The sandalwood items are very hard to find as not many are reproduced.

Re: A question for the factory original guys
My orange and white 72 Sierra Grande had white houndstooth upholstery and headliner. Door panels were white, dashpad was black. It had tilt steering.

Re: A question for the factory original guys
My 72 Highlander has parchment interior with a black dashpad and the black tilt column. My gut tells me my dash pad is original beings as all the screws and stamped nuts were in place. Many times people will skip the hard to reach nuts when reinstalling the dash, and knowing my PO thats how he would have done it! Anyway, going from memory I *think* parchment with tilt (which was always black) would be a black dash pad. Maybe the non-tilts were colored like bouncy's???

Re: A question for the factory original guys
Critter is exactly right....
Factory Tilt trucks, blazers, burb's w/ parchment interior- came with black dash pads when having tilt columns as the tilt's were always black. Non-Tilt column trucks w/ parchment interior- received Sandalwood dash pads and sandalwood steering columns. Hope this helps, Trevor

Re: A question for the factory original guys
No, not factory and no longer in the Blazer. It's just taking up space in the garage now.

Re: A question for the factory original guys
I have a question for you guys how come every one says that color dash pad is sandlewood when my 70 jimmy came with sandlewood seat covers with gold trim the seats are a dall white color. I think the color of the dash pad is called sandle or brown or even gold not sandlewood. I just painted my tilt to match my interior.

Re: A question for the factory original guys
Thanks everyone! I learned something new again. It never ceases to amaze me the knowledge of this board!! One more question. Since the sun visors on my dads suburban are also black, were the sun visors black on tilt column parchment interior trucks as well?
