Manual Steering box question
I wan't to keep the manual steering box, but I have a very large amount of play. Seeing as how I'm turning this truck into a race car, I would like to do the steering myself and not let the truck steer its self. Only problem is that I can't find the part on advance auto parts website. Any advice? The truck is a '69 c10. Thanks!

Re: Manual Steering box question
I would first insure that the play is not from the steering linkage like tie rod ends, idler arm, etc.
There is an adjusting screw in the box that you can tighten some but if the wear is excessive, it may only tighten it make it harder to steer. forgot to add: I would not get used parts of the net, but I'd try to google it and see what comes up. It probably would be best to buy a new replacemtent. Last edited by 68gmsee; 07-19-2010 at 11:35 AM. |

Re: Manual Steering box question
thanks for the info, I'll check everything then try the adjusting screw. If that doesn't fix it I'll start looking for a new one somewhere.

Re: Manual Steering box question
I think just about all the vendors carry that steering gear.
