lowered trucks with inner fenders
I know once you cross over to the low zone you have to worry about your truck bottoming out on your inner fenders what i wanted to know what solutions have you guys taken, other then just removing them all together. I was wondering if maybe you can just move them up an inch or so.

I added some stubby bump stops on mine I have 27" tall tire on mine, before they would scrub on every little bump

I had the same problem with mine rubbing every time I hit a bump, till one day I was driving along about 60mph and hit a little dip in the road on the drivers side, the tire rubbed the fender so hard that it threw me into the other lane....wasn't long after that I took them out.

Here's what I had on my 77 before the Ride Tech re-do. The second pic shows what I am running now. This allows me to air out and still roll.

I attacked this problem from a different view...the supension is lowered so I raised the inner fenders...

how did you raise the inner fenders this is what i was thinking of doing, i had my stock bumpstops on there and it never rubbed but being a moron, i looked at them one day the truck was on the lift and said ****, maybe i dont need these, boy was i wrong. I was just thinking of putting some new ones back on but they were only like 1.5" from hitting when the truck was on the ground.
Im kind of leaning towards moving the stock fenders up, mind showing us some pics and how you did it? |

I built this bumpstop extension. When aired out on a 205/70/15 tire I had a quarter inch of space between the tire and innerfender.

It would only bottom out once i air out correct and if i dont cups my down to much the a arm should touch the upper plate mount correct

That's an awesome idea, I think I may do that but the opposite. I think the spacer and stop on the control arm would work best for me. I see it probably would not work for you as well with the tubular a-arms but I have stockers and it should work well. Much like N2TRUX's old set-up but modified a little bit. Thanks for the ideas guys.

Why not remove the inner fenders, and go with a cheap set of custom fenders? All you need to do is get some sheet metal, or aluminum and just bend it using a metal break.

Guys, just removing the fender liners does not cure your problems. If your going that low, you will need to cut the inside of the fender as well. You can section that area and move everything up, but it requires a LOT of cutting, welding, and body working skills.

It has the potential to bottom out regardless of how much air you are running. It just depends on the circumstances. Speed + load x dip in road= suspension reaching it's lower limits.

well if i was to put the stock bumpstops back on my truck i wouldnt be rubbing anymore but i will almost be ridding on the bump stops every bump i hit.

I took my bump stops all the way out for now. I will put some short ones in soon though, with the stock bump stops I was riding on them and the ride was terrible. It improved when I took them all the way out but the suspension will bottom out quicker..
