Crew Cab 1-ton to 3/4 or 1/2 ton

Wanting to build a crew cab 2wd short wheel base, found a 1988 c3500 2wd crew cab long bed, how can you change it to a 3/4 or 1/2 ton. I have a 1/2 ton front and rear end available, or would a 3/4 ton be any easier. Any help would be appreciated.

I assume you just don't want to look at the 8-lug wheels and want 5-lug wheels? The 14 bolt that it has on it is good, the front hubs are bigger\badder to.

After re-reading your post I have to assume since you didn't say that this is a dually? 1tons come both ways we need to know this first...

You will have to find a 14 bolt rear axle from a single rear wheel 1ton unless you really want to put in the crappy 1\2ton rear axle. On the front you will have to switch the hub units, not that big of deal. Are you ok with leaving it 8-lug or does it have to be 5-lug for yah?

I have the spare 5-lug unit just laying around, if it wasn't to hard I was wanting to make it a 5-lug.

Re: Crew Cab 1-ton to 3/4 or 1/2 ton

if you swap roters on the front to srw you'd be the same as a 3/4 ton but if you want 5 lug you need to swap A arms and spindels

I did a wright up on the front ends interchange a while back here it is on a nother site
