1968 Panel Truck 4x4 Frame
Wanting to turn my panel truck into a 4x4 . Is their a factory truck frame or suburban frame that will work or do I just find a donor 4x4 truck and replace drivetrain?

Re: 1968 Panel Truck 4x4 Frame
I am planning on doing the same thing. Several options, easiest is to find a 4x4 suburban or panel frame. Or you could use truck longbed 4x4 frame but end of frame is different and body mounts are different. Last, you could convert your 2wd frame.
I am planning on converting my 2wd frame, modify frame to fit front leafs, and I am putting rear axel under my trailing arms. |

Re: 1968 Panel Truck 4x4 Frame
I started doing the same conversion on my panel before I sold it. I was using a 68 Suburban 4x4 frame and converted it to 72 3/4 running gear. The easiest conversion would be to find a Suburban 4x4 frame. Also make sure to install a high hump to clear the trans and transfer case.

wheelbase, for longbed trucks and suburbans and panels are the same, but the truck frame at the end (rear of frame) are different as well as the body mounts (no completely positive about body mounts though).

Re: 1968 Panel Truck 4x4 Frame
Are there any later model 4x4 suspensions that will bolt up?

Re: 1968 Panel Truck 4x4 Frame
I did the replacement . I put a 67 panel on a 72 4x4 suburban frame. It bolted right up! Later models have a 4 inch longer wheelbase.
