Suburban K20 1986 Silverado - "Silvester"

Hi there,

I am Jochen. I Live in the Netherlands.

Just 14 weeks ago we imported a Suburban from California. We have repaired it and made it fit for Dutch roads and we now use it as our Daily Driver.

Stuff we did till now (sorry for my bad english every now and then):
- changed universal joints in stearing
- changed the upper and lower ball joints
- changed headlight to euro style
- installed Xenon headlights
- installed natural gas system for fuel
- installed small backupfueltank 20 liters
- changed distributorcap
- new spark plugs
- installed fence in the car for our dogs
- new tires (General Grabbers AT2 265, 75, R16)
- new spark plug wires (today)
- change dashlights to white LEDs
- changed cooling fan to "Flexfan"
- two new batteries
- installed Sony car stereo
- installed reverse parking sensors
- installed active holder for phone

in front of our door (look at that size, hahaha)

Re: Suburban K20 1986 Silverado

thanks man!

somebody told me that my 3/4 ton Sub should not be fitted with 8 bolt wheels. He thought this would only be on 1,0 ton models. Is he correct?

No, the 3/4 tons have them as well. The axles just aren't as "beefy" as the 1 tons.

Re: Suburban K20 1986 Silverado

Yesterday, monday, was the big day!

We confirmed something, we already knew for ten years!

The big YES of my wife is cristal clear in one of the pictures. I also said YES ofcourse.

We got married by a woman with the same name as our doughter "Jennifer".
what a coincidence.

And how often can you park your car in front of city hall.

Jochen, Brenda
en Jennifer

Ok, forgive me but why do alot of folks buy trucks here and ship them over to Germany and the Netherlands and other places in Europe? I can completely understand why someone wants one of these old trucks, but shipping it all that way must be expensive and rough on the nerves.

wel...shipping is indeed kinda pricey! but if a car drove around in california for 25 year, it probably is still hard as a rock. Same with my car.

Bought it for 5950,-Euros .It had just arrived from America, California,. Already did 7.000,- worth of modifications and maintenance on it and I love it!

It has only 115.000 miles on it and we hope to drive it for at least 5-10 years...

You dont get so much car in Europe for this price And all cars in Europe are either SMALLLLLLL of UNAFFARDABLE!

For example I drive a Audi A3 Sportsback for work. Costs € 32.000,- delivered to the customer.

oke. but why does one get this name on this forum? as prenium member and team member you would expect something like "addicted member" or something like that? but "procrastinator"? its a real tong-breaker for me!

Re: Suburban K20 1986 Silverado

You can create your own user title...

mine.. HOOAH.. is a term used in the US Army. Basically means, yes, ok, I agree, or used as motivation..

Go to USER CP (at the top, blue tool bar.. it is 3rd from the left).
Then go to Edit Your Details.
Under Optional Information go to Custom User Title.

hello, thanks for the reply!

no there is no extra protection of any kind that I know of.

They told me that the "second gastank" in camperversions of the Burb are installed ina a similar way.

Anybody got pictures of these gas tanks that are installed on the side of the car?
