Master & Booster Angle
Local hot rod shop seems to think there is an issue with the angle of my master cylinder. It is lower in the front. I realize this is a Corvette style master. I am doing a 4 wheel disk conversion. The stock master was at the same angle. The booster and bracket are stock. This is a factory power brake 72 1/2 ton LWB Cheyenne Super. Does it look like this booster and bracket are installed correctly?

Re: Master & Booster Angle
I had never considered that it was wrong but when it was mentioned I thought I better research it a little further. No need to name the shop. They are reputable. They have been around for a long time and put out some very high quality work.
Don't take this wrong. I agree with you Shane but If I could hear it from a few other members or better yet see a few pics of other stock boosters it would make me feel better.

Re: Master & Booster Angle
I asked the same thing when i reinstalled my part. They were not tight but leaned forward even less after i tightened everything up. My opinion says it is okay.

Re: Master & Booster Angle
i just put a 7 inch dual diaphram booster on my 67 and it is tilted slightly but maybe not as much as yours. i would think that it is ok. i did mount the proportioning valve on a bracket on the firewall.

Re: Master & Booster Angle
They tilted all the power brake master cylinders in that time frame. The cars have a severe rearward angle to them.
Don't know why they did it but it is normal with power brakes.

Re: Master & Booster Angle
I was planning to convert my 67 to power brakes. I was going to use a gbody booster and cylinder but realized the reservoir was designed to sit level when the firewall was at an angle in the "upwards" tilt which is opposite to what's posted above. Then I look at this thread from hit rod and I am really confused..

Re: Master & Booster Angle
My original drum/drum setup had the master pretty much dead level. You're looking at a car setup with the thing angled that high to clear the engine. my aftermarket disc brake upgrade has the master pointing down at a slight angle, not level like original. Just look at the different setups in this thread, and I think you'll realize that you have nothing to worry about.

Re: Master & Booster Angle
I had the stock set up on my truck. My problem was I couldn't get the valve cover off with the 11 inch booster. It was about a 1/4 of an inch away. I have roller rockers and some times need to get to them with out taking the brake booster apart. I installed the 7 inch double diaphragm booster and a Capt. Fab bracket. Works fantastic.

Re: Master & Booster Angle
I have the same Wilwood setup as bigtop. I got it from classic heartbeat. It sits at the same slight downward angle.
