Quick Change Rear?
Who makes a good quick change rear system? I need to be able to take out one rear and put another in in under an hour. Also, whats a strong fairly cheap rearend? To handle me having fun with 300hp/600ftlbs on the street.

300HP ands 600ftlb?? what ya doing?? Sounds like a turbo diesel?
That's a LOT of torque!!!!! If this is in a heavy vehicle,, have you considered a 9"? I can drop the rear disk caliper / retainers, pop the axles out, remove the 10 bolts and have the centersection out in less than 1/2 an hour. (IF the tires are already off,, I have to drop the coilovers/suspension and get the rear down far enough to get the slicks out from under the quarters) If you don't have tire clearance issues I bet a 9" will fill the ticket. It would mean your buying two complete centersections, but I think a 9" with a locker would be one of the few street differentials to hold up to 900 ft lb on a continual basis. AND, you better look AT LEAST a 33 spline axle. Anything less and I think your looking at troubles.

A solid built 9 inch with two complete center sections ready to go your looking at probably 5k give or take. There is not cheap way to do it. Cheap is unsafe and will yield broken parts and the risk of crashing. If you break something in the rear and it locks up at 100+mph your going to crash and its going to be bad.

Theres no cheap way to safely do what your trying to do. We tried to tell you that before. If you dont want to die trying its going to cost money. A center section with a good locker plus gears and the center section itself is going to be 1200 or more times 2. Then you need a housing and axles. Not to mention the brakes and everything else needed.

Me and my dad just had Dutchman build our quick change and it was over 5 grand. Looks sweet but they are pricey. I agree with the rest get a 9 with two centers, relatively easy to change the centers out. I would recommend though when you are building it weld in a drain plug so that it is not a huge mess of gear oil when you pull the third member.

I used the term locker generically. You will need a posi at a minimum. The problem is that much torque will break most posi units. You will either be in the neighborhood of using a detroit locker or a spool. An open rear is pretty much out of the question if you ever want any chance at traction.

Ok, what about a 10bolt(non quick change)? It will be 2.73 gears. So, all it will need to handle is speed.

Your not listening, all the torque will still break any stock rearend if you mash the throttle repeatedly.Since quick change is out of the question the just find a Dana 70HD or 80 or even a corp 14 bolt and have it made to work in your ride.

There is no way the torque can beak it with that gearing. This is for a land speed truck. So Im not going to mash the throttle.

For a QC, look on E-bay for used oval track parts. if you thinking 9", look into a floater. Motorstate sells Coleman built 9" housing, axles, hubs, and brakes for about 1200 bucks, then it is really easy to change gears, and safer in a race truck

Would a 10 bolt with 4.10 Detroit truetrac and 30 spline moser axles do the trick? And yes, disc brakes too.
