I got an offer for a trade..

I turned it down but it was a nice car. Just not enough value in these old Buicks.

Re: I got an offer for a trade..

Those 66-67 Gran Sports were sleepers. One of my best friends in high school (1968) Mom has one that we drove on weekend evenings. It put a lot of SS Chevelles and Mopars to shame. We spent a lot of time rotating the front and back tires, it was burn-out queen. His Dad was pretty cool to and knew what was going on. We moved on to a 40 Ford that we pulled the flathead out of and put in a 289 HP engine out of a Mustang.

One of them was my first car. I could get screwed on price for the sentimental value and the colors are perfect.

That Buick is nice for sure, but oh the things I would do for that Chevelle in the background... If I ever manage to get my hands on one I will NEVER let it go.

But does NADA really apply to these kinds of cars? Modification is a tricky thing. I've seen some really awesome cars built to the hilt that technically aren't worth that much as far as blue book goes. It really DOES look like a nice car. Even I would be tempted.

Funny thing, just before I got the truck I was going to build a 70 Chevelle. The vette suspension and 5.3 I have were supposed to go in it. But The more I got into it I found I needed rockers, quarters, front fenders, inner fenders, etc. Too much hassle. I ebayed the good parts and cut the body up with a sawzall and threw it into a dumpster at work. One mans dream...anothers garbage!

Well thing is picture doesnt tell the whole story. My truck is more complete. The car needed interior redone. and i didnt see under the hood except for the fact the guy said it was a 98 350 with 700r. The paint look great in the pic. but it was a nice garage job. The orange looked good but the black wasnt as glossy as it should be. look to have some clouding and ripples. Plus had drums all around. If paint had been as nice as it looks in the pics and the interior was done I would have. All that work along with lower NADA values told me no. Plus the wife likes the truck better. I was looking at a good 3-4 grand to get it where i wanted it

That makes me sick. If you hear of anyone else getting ready to throw away a 1970 Chevelle because it has "too much rust" let me know. I will rent a trailer and come haul it away free of charge. You or they won't even have to hassle with cutting it up and disposing of the scrap.

So will it also make you sick that I did the exact same thing to a 70 camaro and used all the mechanical parts to finish my 79 Trans Am about 10 years ago? It seems I'm not meant to have a 70 Chevy anything.

Only in that it is a shame to see a cool car go to waste. A 70 Camaro would be a welcome addition to my collection, but the 70 Chevelle is a life-long dream car. Very nice '79 T/A by the way. I'm kinda partial to '79 F-bodies myself, and I've pulled from quite a few later 2nd gens on mine as well.
