Re: T-case adapter needed
wow, that's a different request...
You might have an easier time with a divorced transfer case....

Re: T-case adapter needed
What would I add to the in-put side of the T-case to connect to the tranny?
Thanks, Garvin |

Re: T-case adapter needed
Won't he still need to swap output shafts in the transmission since it's a 2wd?

Re: T-case adapter needed
measure and check once you pull the tailshaft off and put the adaptor/tcase on you need to see how much spline engagement you have.
I will be running a 2wd 4l80e with my np205 using a fig8 th400 adaptor.

This adapter is for a Pre-'97 4l603. The '02 model that I have has a 6 bolt tail shaft. |

Never mind TH400 is also a 4 bolt. Any info on turning a 208 in to a divorced setup?

Re: T-case adapter needed
Th400 is 6 bolt but the pattern is smaller than the 4L60E. You can't really get around using the AA kit. There is a special adapter that goes from the 4L60E 6 bolt down to the 4 bolt that has a spot to screw the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) into it and includes a reluctor ring that clamps to the tail shaft. Then, since the shaft is longer they include a 1 and 1/2" 4 bolt spacer that also goes after this adapter, so it ends up being a crazy 3 adapter setup when you include the one on the T-case. I was going to put a 205 behind my 4L65E and this is what I had to do.

Re: T-case adapter needed
Is the VSS threaded or is it set up like a crank/cam sensor for a LSX? I might try and fab an adapter with a VSS when I get back to the states. Is the shaft free floating between the tranny and T-case? Are there any bearings or seals on the any of the adapters?

skoffice
A '67 TT would be interesting to see. What kind of suspension setup are you planning on running in the front? |

Re: T-case adapter needed
The VSS is threaded so you can set the clearance from the reluctor ring (I think about .010") but it is a similar style magnetic pickup sensor. The adapter has two holes in it so you can go on either the left or right side, and includes a pipe plug for the unused hole. You could probably fab one up pretty easily if you have access to a mill and/or lathe. If you built the expensive part of the adapter you can buy that 4 bolt spacer seperately for like $70 or something like that.
That truck is kind of on the back burner right now unfortunately because of the '64. I need to finish the '64 so I can have something reliable to drive back and forth up to the shop that has the '67 since he moved further away haha. I plan on doing all custom honey combed A-Arms up front, custom spindles and probably Desert Specialties hubs. Out back standard 4 link with a custom 14 bolt with 40 spline shafts. I'm going to use the stock boxed and gusseted frame rails and tube out in between and into the engine compartment up on into the cab.

Re: T-case adapter needed
No mill, but I do have a TIG. Shouldn't be too hard to find some one local for the mill work.
Sounds like a good plan for the '67. Does any one make glass flairs for that body style?

Re: T-case adapter needed
Nobody manufactures them but there was a guy a few years back on this site that was making them from scratch for a while. I don't know if he still does but they looked really good. Ya if you have a machine shop near by they should definitely be able to figure something out. If you have access to AutoCAD draw something up and see if they can CNC it.

Re: T-case adapter needed
Wasn't the np241 used behind the 4l60e with the six bolt tail housing? Just bolt the 208 to the stock 241 adapter for that tranny. The output shaft would need trimmed down I'm guessing, since it's a 2wd unit.
