Re: 64-66 gmc frame swap?
I have put a '62 SWB body onto a '74 SWB frame years ago.....I wouldn't do it again knowing what I know now. However there is more than one way to do the swap. I have also since heard that the Suburban frames lend themselves better to this swap. Either way it is much more than a bolt on swap, there will definitely be cutting, welding and fabrication involved. You might check out a thread in the 'projects and Builds' section. there is a member that is installing a '65 body on a '78 K20 frame and running gear. It looks like he has it figured out. Although I don't know exactly what he did to make it work.
IMO it is much easier to just install all the running gear from the Suburban under your '64-'66 GMC.
