1960 Cadillac, Series 62, 2 Door Hardtop
here's my dream car...... that I am fortunate enough now to own. a 1960 Cadillac, Series 62, 2 door hardtop. it hasn't seen the light of day since 1973 when the original owner passed away. it was pulled out of the garage last year and is the closest thing to a time capsule I have ever owned. the body is solid and as straight as a laser. the chrome and stainless trim is near mint. there are some pitting on the front bumper though. the paint is tired, but original. the AUTO seek and scan AM still works and the power antenna still functions. the glass is perfect and each power window functions flawlessly. even the power seat still works! I think the only thing that doesn't work is the wipers, but I think a new motor would fix that. the original U.S. Royal wide white spare tire still holds air and is brand new. the trunk liners are all there and near perfect. the radiator and the a few fan blades had a fight, so I am debating on whether to get this one recored or buying an aluminum 4 core. the rear main seal leaks, but I've never owned an old car that didn't....
needless to say, I am one happy person right now! a little Mexican blanket action on the seats and a 3" static drop on all 4 corners is what I have planned for it in the near future. a complete air ride system will be as funds allow. I only have a couple good outside shots today. I'll post more detailed pics as I get them posted to photobucket...

G'damn Doug I like your style. I knew something better would be coming down the line. And about the only way to top a 67-72 (esp. yours) is an ol' Cad.
-Brady BTW- If you want some magic performed on that old paint, I'm right down the road

Re: 1960 Cadillac, Series 62, 2 Door Hardtop
Brian,
Come on over any time. btw, that's a he!! of blow off valve on the Caliber!!! Keith, yep, she barely fits in the garage and now I'm planning an "expansion". but it fits, and it's safe and sound. garage = 21' deep. Caddy = 18.9' deep Brady, My man. I knew you would dig it. I think the paint is freakin' lacquer and is damn near 1/32 thick!!! there are a few spots that looks like brake fluid (or something very corrosive) that have messed the paint up on the hood and roof. hummmm, I could take care of that with a white metal flake top?! 884x4sub, yep, Johnny Cash meets Elvis. I could easily see this thing parked in front of the Grand Old Opry in 1961. matter of fact, my first roadtrip is Memphis....... Jared, maybe I could rent it out to your cousin's band. he!!, they could load the entire set in the trunk, including the bass!!!

Re: 1960 Cadillac, Series 62, 2 Door Hardtop
Doug, I'm sorry to inform you that car was stolen from my Grandpa's garage in 1973 and I am the rightful heir. Go ahead and put the air bags, metal flake, rear main seal and radiator in and bring it down. I'll buy you lunch.
Thanks, see you then. That is soooo badasss.

That is sooooo cool!!!
It's fun seeing cars that are still original & discovering the neat junk about them.

Re: 1960 Cadillac, Series 62, 2 Door Hardtop
That is one of my favorites, too. The old timer that taught me how to do bodywork had one identical to that in the corner of his shop, that was his wife's car. When she passed away, he put a cover over it and it sat for 15 years. I pulled it out and cleaned it up for him, and he drove it in a few parades until he passed away. That left me with a soft spot for '60 Cadillacs. I have had a few late 50's and early 60's Cadillacs, but the '60 has always eluded me. What a great find.
