Three speed columns blow.
Ive got me an issue with my column shift. The trans is a 3 speed but like i said it has a column shifter. .It is properly bushed and has the right amount of washers. still doesnt like to go into gears at times. the trans is a rebuild and i did it myself so i know its okay. I was wondering if anyone knew about a cheap alternitave to a three speed floor shifter. rather than going to the local parts store or website to order a high performance one. ?

Re: Three speed columns blow.
If your interested in keeping your column shifter, http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=215307 this faq article is really helpful, Got mine working smoothly. I was considering getting a floor shifter before I got it to work but looking back I'm glad I stuck with the column shifter. 1, because it kept it original and 2, because it a 3 speed, you only have to shift twice so it's not used much in a sense and out of the way.

Re: Three speed columns blow.
The 3-on-the-tree is a good deal when operating properly. The only floor shift alternatives are in the aftermarket performance market.A 4spd of GM car origin is a straight bolt-in.The ones that were used in muscle cars, like Muncies and Borg Warners,go for good money. But,Saginaws came in cars like Vegas and Monzas,as well as others, and can be had for much less.
