1949 chevy project
Hello All,
I've had a lot of questions on this 49 chevy 3100 pickup that I'm trying to restore with my dad and I've always seemed to understand things better after you guys answer them. So I was wondering if anyone has done or thought about putting a 292 engine into one of these pickups...I've thought awhile on what I should do engine wise and I think I've got it narrowed down to a 292, but I'd like to see pictures of someone whose done this before so I know what I'm getting myself into. Thanks for any help! |

Re: 1949 chevy project
Is the length of the 292 the same as the 216 qnd 235?
Is this front motor mounts on the 292 the same part number as 235? The bell housing I would think are the same so the rear mount should be in the same place. Just some thoughts as I have only installed V-8s so GOOD LUCK

Re: 1949 chevy project
I'm not sure I guess...I haven't gotten the 292 yet...I just want to make sure everything will work before I invest in it.

Re: 1949 chevy project
The 292 is slightly longer, enough that the fan will come too close to the radiator if you don't move the radiator forward.

Re: 1949 chevy project
Thanks Ray,
Those details were always unknown, but I thought there was a difference.
