LS Wiring harnesses questions

I want to buy a wiring harness to start modding it myself, what year should I look for? I plan on swapping in a LQ4/9 with drive by cable TB(swap to DBC if it is DBW) with a th350 behind it. What years are best for this and if I get a good deal on a DBW harness can it easily be modded to DBC? Does it have to be from a 6.0l truck or will a 5.3 harness work? I won't have the money to buy the motor until Nov/Dec and I want to start gathering all the smaller parts to make the swap easier once I get the motor.

Re: LS Wiring harnesses questions

why not get the harness with the motor?

You can go and get any 99-02 truck or 99-05 van

You would remove all the trans wiring and the DBW stuff too.

There is a guy on ebay that sells a custom harness for somewhere around $450.00 which might or might not be in your budget but just my opinion, it would be worth the agrivation.

Re: LS Wiring harnesses questions

If one comes with the motor I could just sell it. I have looked into the stand alone harness but I would rather spend $100 vs $350-$500 for the harness. I have done other harnesses before and it is a pain but if it can save me that much $$$ then I would rather put in the labor.

Re: LS Wiring harnesses questions

A 99-02 4.8,5.3,6.0 truck harness whould be best. You chould modify a 00-02 SUV DBW harness by adding the TPS & IAC wiring and plugs.

Stay away from 03 & up DBW harnesses, It whould take ALOT of re-pinning to make it work.

Re: LS Wiring harnesses questions

I have a DBC 6.0\4L80E harness. It is off of a van 01/02ish. It has two broken wires on the transmission range switch. I eliminated the switch from the harness on my swap. PM me if you are interested. Jay
