Well I'm sort of sad today ...
As I had to move my truck out of the garage and park it for the winter.
It sat in the garage last winter and I never heard the end of it from my wife as her van sat outside. So my buddy with the GTO judge is having a nice frame put under his car and that freed up a spot at his home. So thru a sprinkling of snow I took my final drive this year and tucked it to bed.

Re: Well I'm sort of sad today ...
Well I'll think about your offer Dave. I'm getting too old for these cold winters. It's halloween eve and there is snow in the air. The temp is just above freezing. I think it's time to go to a warmer climate!!!!!

Re: Well I'm sort of sad today ...
I don't live to far from Dave and I would be willing to share the truck duties with him so that the fuel won't go bad in that beautiful truck!!!! It was only 80 here today so I am sure that there won't be any fear of it freezing.

Re: Well I'm sort of sad today ...
Those Texas guys are lying. Worst weather I have ever been in was 1972 at Ft. Hood. Snow and ice storm shut down the base for three days. Myself and two other guys got to stay at the unit shop to make sure nothing froze up and keep everything mission ready (we were on 24 hour standby alert then). Cold air mass can roaring down the Mississippi valley from Canada, met the warm gulf air and bingo big storm. I've been colder but never more miserable, we just were not prepared for that weather gear wise.

Re: Well I'm sort of sad today ...
Perhaps a new wife should be found that can appreciate the old truck . Sure an addition to your garage would be cheaper, but the nagging would still continue.
Your post makes me appreciate my wife even more.. she is as big a motorhead as I am. Not sure we would have been able to stay together for 30 years if that wasn't the case. |

Brian
I feel your pain! I parked my 59 GMC in August....... I parked my 68 C20 a couple of weeks ago thinking snow was in the air, but this past weekend we had record temperatures, +8.2 on Saturday, and no snow, so I took the C20 out for the day! What a great day. Maybe you will see a warm spell and get one more chance!

Re: Well I'm sort of sad today ...
Today Monday was a beautiful day. Sun out birds singing. I'm busy raking leaves and wraping the cedars. Of cource after I get the truck all tucked away a guy calls interested in buying it. So it may roll again shortly... who knows.

I think she has realized it is a cool truck by all the comments I have received about it. This year we did do a couple of drives in it.

It was 88* here today, gonna be 97 by wednesday. Here in So. Cali. we have only two seasons a year Very warm & cool. There is nothing like spending Xmas day in a tank top & shorts. Hope all goes well for you this winter, My father lives near cleveland and says "I am still waiting for global warming" every winter when it gets down to 10*. We get snow here, but usually in the mountains.

Re: Well I'm sort of sad today ...
Yea I spent a couple of years working for a buddy who had a VW business on Santa Monica Blvd. We lived in Brentwood.
We would watch them filming C.H.I.P.S on the street and run down to the pier at lunch. We also sat around the christmas tree in shorts. I would love to move to a climate where I could get more use out of my truck. Parking it for 6 months of the year really sucks. some day ........

Re: Well I'm sort of sad today ...
Winter down here is when I get moving with my restore. It's too hot to do too much work in the summer. Anyway the weather folks are reporting a warmer winter. You can still buy shorts here in the winter.

I lived in McGregor up North of Ft Hood and Worked at the Firestone tire store then Orrie. I chained my 69 Barracuda up in the garage at home and drove past about 100 cars off in the ditch going in on 84 to Waco that morning and wasn't even late to work. Had some old fart that should have been home in front of the stove cuss my boss because he wouldn't make me pull my chains off my own car and sell them to him. Spent some time out in the field at Fort Hood in early 69 Freezing my butt off too. The cold there is a damp cold that stays with you. At least you have your buddy's garage to keep the truck in this winter. I'd have to get rid of all of my tools and equipment to have room to put one of my trucks in my little garage.
