1959 GMC wiring
I have Installed a 350 with hei ignition in my 1959 GMC p/u, I was wondering if someone could help me out with the wiring or were i can find a wiring diagram. the harness is in good shape so I want to use as much of it as possible and also the new engine came with an alternator and i am not sure how to wire it in to the system. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

Re: 1959 GMC wiring
Here is a basic original diagram. At home I have a more detailed one from the factory assy manual. The hei needs a switched 12v wire (does not go thru the resistor) looks like the one from the ING2 post at the ignition switch that does not go thru the resistor might work. Check it with a multimeter to see if it is getting constant 12V. Can't help on the alternator, depends on the type (single wire, multi wire with internal regulator, multi wire with external regulator). A search here turned up a number of threads but it depends on the type you have.
