Looking for answers on cooling fans
I had planned on using my mechanical fan but my 350 sits too close to the radiator. That means I'll need a fan. It's a Walker and is 20 inches wide. I was figuring on a single fan. Can anyone give me some suggestions as to what fan and assorted attachments and where to get them. I should have already researched this after 4 years building this 51 but I had not thought I would need it.

Re: Looking for answers on cooling fans
Are you asking about an electric fan? If so, look for a F@rd Taurus fan (with a V6, 2 speed) it pushes more CFM's than a lot of high $ aftermarket fans. They can be had for little on Ebay or pull-your-part places. I have one now on my 53. I've used them on trail rigs in the past with great luck. I think I have a pic of my setup on my 53 build. If your looking for a mechanical fan please disregard and carry on.

Re: Looking for answers on cooling fans
Are you talking about a 6 volt fan? My truck is 12 volt.

Re: Looking for answers on cooling fans
No, I'm talking about a 12 volt fan out of a v6 engine F@rd Taurus. The fan is a 2 speed. Awesome fans IMHO.

Re: Looking for answers on cooling fans
I had to move my radiator forward ,its a 3 core and change the mounting brackets on the fan and radiator. It does not ty-rap to the radiator. Mine is a 300 hp with air. Just showing you how close it is.

Re: Looking for answers on cooling fans
You'd be looking for something like this. Stay away from the duel setup. I've had great luck with these. Do a google search on the fan. Guy's use them on all kinds of rigs, make sure it comes with the connector.

so you can look in everything from big Lincolns to 305 TBI Camaros... also some V6 sedans had huge fans, like the Taurus mentioned. |

Re: Looking for answers on cooling fans
If your to close for a mechanical fan you will never get a Taurus fan in there and you can't make a Taurus a pusher.

According to the seller (Ebay) the width is 5". I believe with the mechanical fan its 2' shim removed there should be enough room. I will certainly check it out before buying. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Looking for answers on cooling fans
its been a while since ive measured my radiator, but on the 38' were working on, we used 2 of the slim 10" jegs fans. 2.5" from mounting to depth of the fan. they have a few other sizes too, but something to think about. and at 50 bucks a pop, its hard to beat.
i used a 14" flex-lite metal blade electric with no shroud thats only a tad over 3" that i cant seem to find on the internet. but it keeps my 400+hp cool no problem. but i will be upgrading to a dual setup with a shroud

Re: Looking for answers on cooling fans
I bought the Taurus fan on Ebay. I'll have to do a little fabrication to make it fit but it should work ok. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

Re: Looking for answers on cooling fans
I see you already bought one. But incase someone else need one, a Mercury Mistique uses the same fan.
