SMC valve set up plate?

Just wondering what everyone is doing / has done for their valve set up? I am talking about fastening them to what and where.

Do I need to fabricate a plate?

I don't have any brackets for my SMC valves and wondered if that is my only option.

It seems the 1/2" brackets are a little harder to find.

Pic's of your set up would be great.

Re: SMC valve set up plate?

I can't see a way to mount the valves without a plate, so I would think you're going to need to make them. I've heard mounting them directly to the tank could cause too much stress on the bung welds and possibly crack, so mounting them with some type of plate is preferred.

Re: SMC valve set up plate?

here's what i did. I made my own brackets and used u bolts to hold them tight. I really didn't like the way the smc brackets use the bolts that are supposed to hold the valve together to mount them. Seems kinda shakey especially since the threads are in brass.

Re: SMC valve set up plate?

I made a manifold with pipe fittings, so I could mount my valves off the tank. Some 1 inch square tubing welded to the frame as a crossmember and some small u bolts, and mine are very secure. All of my airride components are mounted under the bed, and I can service all of my valves easily. If need be, I can quickly disconnect my valves and drop the whole manifold down in about 5 minutes. I looked at getting some tabs for mine, and like smashing chuck said, I didnt like how they actually mounted them. I will try and get a pic from home this evening and post it. My valves arent SMCs, but the same mounting could be done with any valves.

I just used u bolts and mounted them to the frame. I made fill/dump pairs and mounted each near the bag along the frame. I had t fittings (with the air line fitting for pressure gauge) and used the u bolts to hold the t flush to the frame. Worked great.

Re: SMC valve set up plate?

That's how mine were, I just made it harder on myself by mounting them straight to the frame.

I like that setup, great pics.

Re: SMC valve set up plate?

I just mounted mine to a piece of plywood at the front of the box. Will redo it with a piece of stainless later...
