Complete noob question

How the heck do you change the wiper blades on an '86? Not how to remove the whole arm. That I can do. I bought the Bosch Excel + model #41916 which according to the little book is the correct set.

I've searched this site and google for probably 45 mins and apparently I am the only one who has this issue as I can't find anything on how to change them.

This is a huge bruise to my ego. I'm the one all my friends and family call with car questions. I've built entire engines from scratch, rewired hot rods, installed superchargers, nitrous systems etc etc but I can't change the fricken wipers on my ride. LOL

Re: Complete noob question

pull the wiper up so that the arm is at a 90 degree angle to the cowl and with a small screwdriver you should see a little tab to pry up and slide the wiper blade assembly off the arm

Flathead screw driver to pry and pull very hard. Sometimes they can be a royal pain in the ass.

Mine don't come any where near 90*. With the wipers in the "parked" position, I pull the wiper off the glass and it stops when the blade is apprx 6-7" off the glass.

The wipers I bought look like this

This is correct piece, right?

Re: Complete noob question

If it works anything like mine did when you pull the arm up the wiper blade will just stay on the windshield I have yet to find a wiper blade that will clip into place

Re: Complete noob question

Went back to my red neck ways and just cut the little bastards off and snapped the new ones on.
Upon further examination, I never saw a little tab to push. They were held on there by what looked like a 8 point lock washer.
