Heater/AC Blower Speed Resistor Noise
My 82 K10 Heater resistor is screaming! I't has been making this screaming noise intermentantly for the last year but today it would not go away. I have tried replacing the relay below it but the new relay causes fuses to pop so I assume the relay is bad from the manufacture. Is my resistor bad or my fan? When it isn't screaming the fan works great, but when it is the fan is slow and weak..

Re: Heater/AC Blower Speed Resistor Noise
I'm gonna say it's your fan motor, My Jeep started doing the same thing couple days ago. Take the fan out and put a few drops of oil on the shaft bushing, You can drill a small hole center of the bump on the other end of the motor then add a couple drops in that end. Put a dab of RVT Silicone over the hole to re-seal it.
Doing this will save buying a new motor during the holidays.....

Re: Heater/AC Blower Speed Resistor Noise
When you unplug the resister your killing power to the blower so it won't make the noise.....

Re: Heater/AC Blower Speed Resistor Noise
Unplug the fan motor, and run a jumper wire from the battery to the motor. If the noise is still there its your motor.

Re: Heater/AC Blower Speed Resistor Noise
most likely the fan motor has failing bearings...
thats why it slows down and draws more current

Re: Heater/AC Blower Speed Resistor Noise
There is nothing in the resistor to make noise...smoke maybe but no noise. The blower motor and the vent doors are really the only moving parts...has to be the motor bearings if you have not disturbed the squirel cage fan itself to alter its balance.
