drive line question....

OK my 62 chevy is sitting on a 1983 chevy chassis or so I think. For sure it's that era of frame/chassis(75-88). The PO had a camaro rearend and a entended drive line. Now the truck has a 350 with a 700r4 tranny. I'm going to put the chevy truck rearend back in the truck and am going to need to shorten the drive line I have now or buy a stock one. Stock would be cheaper. So here's my question. Can I find a drive line off of any truck or do I need to look for a truck with a 700 tranny? I'm guessing the 700 and the 350 are different lengths. Can someone measure there drive line for me. O yeah and the truck is a shortbed. PLease help. Thank you.
