Half way low

The weather for my vacation time is really not for workin on the truck. I did have a couple of days without rain so I got off my duff and got the back done. I'm kinda disappointed as I see some problems that do crop up. I used an axle perch from Tractor Supply and drilled another hole to relocate the axle back 1 inch. I may have been happier getting the drive shaft shortened. I was thinking of swaping the springs left to right to compensate for the chevy lean but didn't (hine sight 20:20). I have yet to mount the shocks but I see a slight problem there but I think I can get away with thin nut as there is not much room between the shock mount and the lower spring plate. Oh I'll bet that spare tire will have to go too.

But look at the bright side I'm half way there. I just need a couple of days off with good weather.

Just as an idea, why not put the shock on first (running the bolt from the spring to the diff) Gives you a chance to swap the springs as well.

Are you going to run a bumper or a roll pan?

Uh, you did weld that spring perch to the axle... right? And how did you set the pinion angle?

On the shocks, are the ones you are using shorter than the originals? If not, they will bottom out and probably won't last long.

I'll be putting front shocks on the rear axle and I believe a short nut will fit. No the perches are not welded to the axle yet. The axle has been snugged down with the old spring perch carefully measuered to be even on each side. I will be checking the pinion angle before I put a bead on it. I have a real easy plan for that I will share later. So for $10 and a couple of holes drilled it's a half low.

I have a chrome rear bumper in the bag of goodies, but I also have a stepside bed in the works too. Just need a couple of half way decent weather days without honey doos to get some more done.

Looks good. I have been running around for about 5 months with my front dropped 5". It has a monster rake going on. The sad part is all the parts for the rear have been on my passenger floorboard. But when it's nice outside I don't have the time, and when I have the time it's not nice out. Bottom line I need a garage

I had the same problem with the spring plate interfering with the shock or shock extender when I used a DJM flip kit...

when i did my flip i kept the shock on and just pulled the leafs

I'd get that stock shock off of there ASAP. Stock rear shocks are too long and will bottom out. Something will break. If the stock shock breaks ok but if it breaks the frame mounting with it you will have more to contend with.
