1976 chevy short box

this project i have been doing for the past 2 years the first pics are rely old. when it comes to the dash that was done in last weekend.
hi im new here im 14 this is my first truck, its a 1976 chevy 2 door short box 4x4. my dad gave me this truck awile ago now. we took the box,cab,motor,trans,tcase,and gas tank. there wer nothing left of the cab there were rust hols every were not fixibull. the box was the same way, what do u get for 76 right. im still looking for a cab but i got a box, so if any one got 1 laying around tell me. we started on the frame yester day because it was nice out, its the rust stop stuff were using i got over half the frame done and part of the rear end.

o no its a crack on the motor mount. thats what u get for having a vett motor in it. there 1 on the steering box mount to. will be fixed soon.

ok more. i got more of the frame done and most of the leaf spring and most of the bottom of the frame.

little update. i did all the front brakes. they were seased up when it was up on the jack i still couldent turne the wheels.



now i gotta do the backs.

i got more. de greased the trans plat, all around the motor and front axle. just today i painted it all up and it looks sick.
not bothering painting the front leafs springs cus im putting in a lift
now its ready for a trans,motor,and the body.
other then welding in all the cracks

well i did alot today and i dont think im done. i took both back breaks apart 1 was seezed up and we broke a bunch of stuff ripping it off, the other one slid off but the pisten was blown up and both back breaks dident work, i got all the parts cleaned up all grinded down, were going to gett all the parts i need and s spring kit for it today t lordco, and i took all the break lines off and im reaplacing them, and i grinded down the frame and found more cracks. were it craked it liiks like a spider web it wount be much to clean up.
some of the pics r pointless ther just showing me how to pt them back together
and i asked my dad why its all cracked and i found out why, he said its from jumping it, the truck use to be his beating truck.

ok hear is a big update, i have put the cab on, i bought a big gas tank but it dosent fit but what ever, i scored a 350 for free and a 400 small block for a flat of beer, and i hope the loggers box i hope i can still buy. i think that is it.

ok today i got the front lift in and soon im putting in the back blocks.
and im ordering in new box sides and the front so i willl have a almost new box.
this is what the trucks ride hight was,

Looks like POR 15 on the frame? Are you wire wheeling it prior to application?

yes and yes, i take the wire wheel to the chassis just to take off the bulk of it then paint. i wish i spent more time doing it because it looks kind of scabby now. 1 tip to it. don't leave it in the sun. i don't know why but the por 15 fades when its in the sun. the back half of the chassis is all faded so i got to re paint it from sitting in the sun.

today got some done and im happy about it.

yesterday i took the school bus to the sooke auto wrecker and got some u-bolts so i can finally finish the lift, and my dad welded the frame back together and i put the steering box on.
today i put the lift in but i will get some pics tomorrow of the old u-bolts, not much left of em.
this weekend one of my buddied is comin over to help me out, were putting a tent up down in the bottom yard, were pushing the truck down there and putting the box on and taking the motor out of the **** van and hopfully putting it in my truck cant wait.

and my dad picked me up smoothen today

today i got it ready to push dow to the botom yard, took the drivshafts and hooked the steering up.

after that i put the visor on, its all primed and ready for paint.
and got some pics of the u bolts

today took my time and made sher that everything was disconected before we puulld it out tomarrow. its all reedy to come out tomarrow morning.

motor pulled and all washed off







and i have 2 bumpers for sale hear, both for 100bucks, the angle iron one is for a a 76 half ton or whatever mine it, and the other one is is of a late 70' van.

this one is a little bent but fixable




this one has a tow hook, homemade trailer hitch

today i got a new home for my truck, my dad said my truck could only be up there for 1 month, it has now been, ummm a year, lol i think i will like this place better.
my mom bought be some paint to finish the tcace so i did the back bumper to
we mover the van i took the motor out of over so i could put my truck were it was and my dad was pushing me with the excavator and i was in it and he kept pushing and it wasn't going anywhere and he bent the whole front end and wrecked the nice back bumper. lol what ever. lol

new home, and its dry on there lol, were bolting 2by4s from lag to lag criss cross and putting pea gravel over it then the trucks going it it.

wrecked back bumper.

we ripped the cab off it and the axles off the parts truck. junked cab


the box im getting new box sides and the front cus the dec is in good shape, im getting them in fibreglass.

its in ruff shape

painted the inner fenders and drive shafts, i need to get to lordco to get some more parts

they look noice







the thing i was most scared of, the rain is filling up my shop, i need to dig trenches around it so it dosent, what a mess

after a long time without doing anything i got my lazy but out there and did something. i stole the dash out of the black truck painted it. and the chrome piece was a ugly green so i sanded it down now it looks better. i put a new used seat into it. it came out of the original cab. got a gas tank for it today to.









it was time for a new dash.

been working non stop since christmas. got a 3 inch body lift because the trans tunnel is to small off a 2wd to fit the tcase in, well this did it perfict, the trans\tase is in now all hooked up, motor is hooked to the trans. hope to have her running this weekend.

Update.… The last few days I have been re doing the dash cluster\wiring mess. It looked like a rats nest when I got it. I tore it all out and put all new stuff in witch now it all works. And I got a loggers box. I was going to go with something else but i'm getting it quite cheap, should have that soon. I will get pictures later
