Bench grinder wiring/rewiring
Not sure if this is the right section but here goes.
I have an old Companion bench grinder. Thing worked great until the wires fell apart in the cord and now it needs a new cord. It was a 2 prong cord and I would like to use a 3 prong cord to avoid shocks and what not. I am just unsure of how to wire it. I know some would say just buy a new bench grinder but I have all the parts and this thing worked great! Plus it is always fun to learn something new. After searching the net I found that most people refer to a wiring diagram. I have not been able to find one online. here are the numbers off the unit Guaranteed companion highest quality AC MOTOR Catalog number 2228 hp 1.3 Volts 110 cycles 60 phase 1 rpm 1725 amps 6 Sears roebuck and co cd 511d533

Re: Bench grinder wiring/rewiring
The green/ground wire that you didn't have before just get's screwed to the metal case. You should have made a note of where the wires were connected before. Did you?
It should be pretty easy but some of those old things had a relay which might complicate things a little. |
