will a 57 chevy cab mount on an 81 chevy frame

With a 4" spacer under the front cab mount. The track is to wide IMO.

I am putting a 55 cab on a 1980 1/2 ton SWB frame. As said you need to raise the front cab mounts about 4 inches because the newer frame drops. The rear cab mounts are simply bolted/welded onto the frame.
Overall the frame is the same width but a few inches longer and it also requires some modification to the rad support. I found the rad support modification the hardest but have since seen several other ways to do it but I am happy with the way mine turned out. There is also a site on line - name escapes me at the moment, maybe EZ Chassis - that sells all the necessary hardware for about $800.00 to mount our bodies on the 56-59 frame. Looks like a good kit and would really speed things up. The track width is also a bit wide as mentioned and if you are going to slam it you will need to work on back-spacing. I plan on lowering the front 2 or 3 inches and the back 4 or 5 and hope to stay with stock-like rims. I am just about to start putting mine back together after several mock-ups but am doing a bunch of work to my shop first. Finally got it insulated, wired with boarding and heat next. Thanks for the input its an 81 half ton frame that i pro-streeted im running 31x18.5x15s in the rear and 4 inch skinnies in the front,of course is big blocked powered

One of the guys over on the Classic Heartbeat board is putting a similar cab on an 85 Blazer frame. Not quite the same but it might show you a few things you will be up against. His is going to be a 4x4 and sit a bit high anyhow so having the cab sit up off the frame isn't an issue for him. http://www.classicheartbeat.com/foru...ead.php?t=5432 is the link to that thread. Your narrow fronts should help get the front tires closer to being inside the fenders where they belong and if the rear is narrowed you shouldn't have a problem there. You may have a real problem getting the cab pro street low unless you cut the floorboards and make a tunnel though.
