Traded my '08 for an....'08
Well I should have listened to my wife and that voice in the back of my mind and bought a crew cab the first time. It finally got to me and trucks are hot so it was a good time to do it. This one has a few more bells and whistles, like the LT2 console, folding turn signal mirrors, Z60 suspension (larger front sway bar), and a couple other things. Worked a good deal on it at the end of November. So far I put my GMPP intake on it, traded the wheels (kept the GMC chrome 20's), installed leather and ordered some new lowering stuff. The leather has tightened up alot and looks factory now. I know the color is not so exciting but that Red attracted waaay too much attention of the peace officer kind.
I traded this: For this:

Where did you get your leather at Leevon? I've been kicking around the idea of installing it in my 09 crew. It is a great looking truck!

Re: Traded my '08 for an....'08
Thanks! And I'm embarassed of that leather pic, they look great now and the color is ebony (almost black).
Here is the place: http://newseatcover.com/ Check out their Ebay store, I got the set for only $425 shipped, must have been overstock or something. They shipped in 2 days. They were Roadwire / Classic Soft Trim brand, they're the other big one besides Katzkin and were very high quality. Word of warning though, the install is a pain!

Cool crew cab.
I wish I had the Silverado 20's that were on it. I want a set for my 2wd '06 crew. What drop kit did you order? McGaughys? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Traded my '08 for an....'08
Keith, funny everybody said I should have kept those LTZ wheels but the GMC's grew on me. Thanks for the compliment. This is the setup I'm going with now, everything is sitting in my garage but the rear sway bar:
FRONT: MCG 2" spindles (from red truck) MCG coil relocators (from red truck) Poly sway bar bushings and end links (it has the larger 36mm bar already) REAR: MCG rear flip kit (7-8" drop) DJM rear hangers (1" lift) MCG rear helper bags (from red truck) MCG shock relocators Monroe Reflex rear shocks P/N 911258 Airlift load controller II Hellwig 7800 sway bar I tried everything on the red truck, DJM arms, Belltech struts, DJM adjustable flip kit, numerous rear shocks and the ride was always crappy. My wife would never drive it and it got old for me quick so back to the drawing board. The new setup should give me about 3.5/6 drop (with one ring on the coil relocator and a little air in the bags) with a decent ride. The shock relocators come from Tim at gmfullsize.com through MCG, not widely marketed but they work great. They just move the coil down the strut and are adjustable with rings. Nice powdercoated heavy steel. No compromises on this one since it's a family ride, I think the rear shock relocators and stock type rear shocks are going to be key. The front spindles and coil relocators rode nice on the red truck it was the rear that killed it.

Nice upgrade Leevon. I definitely love the added space the crew cab offers.

Re: Traded my '08 for an....'08
I FINALLY got around to lowering the crew cab this weekend, and now I remember why I procrastinated so long...it's a job. I pretty much stuck to the plan above, but on the front I also used shorter end links. On the rear, I have to modify the bushings in the Monroe shocks so I threw a DJM set on there to get finished. I eyeballed the toe so I could drive to the shop but it feels great, ride is waaay better than the last time I did this. I think that it has to do with the shorter end links and shock relocators. Still have to change the shocks and add the rear sway bar, ride could get even better.
If anybody is planning on a flip kit or just lowering their GMT900, PM me and I'll give you a few tips to make it go smooth. I'll get some pics up tomorrow!

Re: Traded my '08 for an....'08
Very nice red truck, but your CC will be even better. Mine is just a regular cab but im also single so i dont quite run into problems about space. You mention the GMPP air intake, where did you buy it and is it worth the money?

Re: Traded my '08 for an....'08
I bought the GMPP intake used from a guy. A few years ago, cold air intakes were the very first mod, that has changed and with the new trucks "everybody" says they don't do anything. I personally think they help a bit, but more so with other engine mods. The GMPP is the one cold air intake that won't get any questions at the dealership (warranty stuff) either.

Very NICE.
If I ever do another one of these,... I will call you and pick your brain. What size tires in these pics? The stock 275/55's?

Re: Traded my '08 for an....'08
Thanks. I haven't perfected it yet, gotta get the Monroe shocks in I hope that's the magic bullet. Yes, those are 275/55/20 they rub a little, might try 265/50/20 next time...

Re: Traded my '08 for an....'08
Sweet!!!
I have been planning on copying the drop from your red truck on my ex cab '08 for a while now, maybe this year after its paid off. The new cc looks great. Love your style. So this is the same kit that was on the red one? (I need to look back and see what kit that was and more details) This thread and a few others really gives me motivation to just do it!

Re: Traded my '08 for an....'08
Thanks! We're digging the Springfield area, missing Arkansas but it's all good in the Ozarks! Didn't make it up to Goodguys this year but there's alot more car stuff to do around here. There is a great little cruise in once a month just a couple miles from the house.
