Which freakin steering box do I need? 1981 short wide 2 wheel drive!

I have been looking at several different steering boxes. As soon as I find one it seems like I can never tell if it is for 4wd or 2wd. Is it the right ratio? Etc.

I need to buy one asap. I'm trying to make my whole steering experience better? Any other tips on this would be greatly appreciated.

So what do you guys think about this one?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AGR-204352/

Brand AGR Performance
Manufacturer's Part Number 204352
Part Type Steering Boxes
Product Line AGR Performance Super Box 2 Steering Boxes
Summit Racing Part Number AGR-204352

Steering Box Style Front steer
Steering Box Type Power assist
Steering Ratio 13-16:1
Steering Box Material Cast iron
Steering Box Finish Natural
Mounting Bracket Included Yes
Pitman Arm Included No
Quantity Sold individually.
Notes Fits models with aftermarket crossover steering.

These AGR Performance Super Box 2 steering boxes are nearly identical in design, performance, and brute force to the Super Box 1, but they're engineered for the vehicle used as a daily driver. They have a firmer valving and appropriate ratio gearing for better handling and drivability at highway speeds.

Thanks!

I assume you've already eliminated slop from worn joints, etc.? It's pretty rare that a steering box actually craps out or wears to the point of being a problem. They can be rebuilt, too.

Yeah I replaced the idler arm as well. Tightened and regreased everything. I just want to go ahead and replace everything I can, within reason, before I put in my engine.

I mainly just want to improve my steering and handling all around. I figured replacing the steering box might help with the slop in the steering wheel.

If I'm wrong or somone has a better idea please let me know. Thanks!

Also will this steering box work?

See the nyloc nut on the top cover in the pic you posted, With the engine off loosen this nut and turn the screw in the center inward 1/8 turn at a time until the slop is gone (turn screw check slop/turn screw check slop). Then start the engine (when you get one in) (DO NOT HAVE YOUR HANDS ON THE WHEEL) and re-check for slop, You can adjust too tight and the wheel WILL spin on start up and break fingers/thumbs. If your box isn't leaking I wouldn't replace if adjusting solves the play issue.

If you want to replace it anyway CALL Summit tech support and tell them what you want, They have good tech support and will be able to hook you up.....
