Steering Column Help - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 1969 CST/10 automatic and I replaced the turnsignal lever and the shifter lever with new ones.When I took it apart the bearing and the race fell out.I put it back together and I cannot get the tunsignal part of the column to lock back into place.Any advice would be appreciated.

There is a certain way it goes together but for the life of me I can't remember how right now. If no one comes up with it I will look in the morning.

Don, I'm thinking that you may not have the cup all the way down on the tube or the cast aluminum piece sitting on the end of the tube correctly. I have included some pictures with text on them to try and show how it goes together. I took one with the cast aluminum piece on the end of the tube without any of the other parts on it to show how the cast piece fits on the tube. It is easy to do by itself but can be difficult trying to do it down inside the turn signal housing. When you set the housing over the tube you don't have to turn it very far to lock it on. After you get the signal housing locked onto the tube and put the cast piece down inside the housing you have to turn the housing a little to get the cast piece down on the tube and the screw holes lined up. I may have to edit my post after I get it on the forum so check it from time to time. I hope you can understand this. It's one of those things that's pretty easy to explain when you're standing side by side but a bear trying to type instructions for it.
