Blazer Seat Backs- Expensive?
I just bought a pair of bucket seats for my '70 truck that originally had backs on them because they came from a Suburban. That making them kinda unusual I'd like to put the backs back on them if they aren't super rare. Any idea on what they go for or if I can even hope to find a pair of the hard backs? Are they hard to come by for Blazers? Reproduced? Same as '73 to what year? Thanks Jim

The bucket seat backs are reproduced and available in most of your larger truck catalogs w/prices ranging between $70.-$100. per set. Mel

Re: Blazer Seat Backs- Expensive?
Chances are they are the "normal" buckets but make sure you didn't get a set of utility buckets. You, being Jim Aust, probably know the difference, but just in case.

These are the seats- you can see they had backs.

Re: Blazer Seat Backs- Expensive?
I made backs for my Jimmy seats using 1/4" plywood. I covered them in the same material I used for the seats. Back in '90 when I did the interior, the plastic seatbacks were already junk.

Great looking seats.
Those backs are reproduced.

Re: Blazer Seat Backs- Expensive?
I am trying to figure out how you know they had backs on them. I have had trucks with bucket seats in them and that is how the back of them look. If they went into a Blazer or Suburban they put the backs on them. About the only way I can tell for sure for the truck bucket seats is the passenger side seat track is fixed and completely different than the Blazer and Suburban. The one seat looks like it has the passenger truck mount. I don't think these ever had backs on them. What am I missing?

Re: Blazer Seat Backs- Expensive?
That wasn't a very clear picture. In this one you can CLEARLY see the screw holes and indentation where the backs had been in place. Yes they are truck seats, but they had backs at one time. I remembered another application that may have required this- a Motorhome. I have seem the truck cabs with the back cut out for a motorhome with walk-through factory buckets- for this a seat back would make sense as well- and these did not come with a console.

Re: Blazer Seat Backs- Expensive?
I see now. I would bet you are correct. I have seen a bunch of the cab and chasis motor homes that were set up just that way. In fact, I tried to buy one many years ago because it had so many truck options on it. But because of when the motorhome was sold, the truck was titled as a 1973, So even though everything about the truck portion had the earlier 1972 sheetmetal and production stuff, the title listed it as a 1973 (square body?).

Re: Blazer Seat Backs- Expensive?
Can someone show me a picture of the part number and any other markings to tell OEM from repro? Or,at least tell me where to look. I still have one Blazer but it's 150 miles from here,so I can't check that. I have a pair I bought many years ago from Golden State and I want to varify what they are.
Hey Jim,I spy a vintage motor home in your picture.Site member Livrat had a gold '72 GMC like that and sold it to another member in Canada. Is that one a '72 or earlier?

Pics are a previous owners yard. This stuff sells SO QUICK I actually bought the seats from a guy that bought them from him! I was never there!

Oh well...I know what you mean. Parts can really move out fast. Looks like a cool camper.
