2nd row Yukon Seat??

What do you guys think of this seat?
notice its the SECOND row, not the far 3rd row backseat

Im thinking it will work well, but i havent seen it in person or in the truck. Has anyone tried a Yukon/suburban middle row seat? EDIT: I should mention this is for a 51 chevy.. an AD truck not a TF.

The guy wants $125 for it... would you consider that a good deal?

Seems like a fair price for a no tear or ripped seat,don't forget to get the center seatbelt.And don't forget that the seat will not have forword and back adjustment,I think a guy could fab 1 up using sliders from a nothe vehicle

good call on the sliders. i didnt think of that.
thinking about it now....I dont think that would be a big issue for me.. the seat is going as far back as it can, and then staying there. lol.

If they are not worn, do not have tears and are not really filthy its a good price. Around here they usually start at $250. I built my third row bracket so it has tilt adjustment, steering wheel telescopes, pedals are fine.

What kind of truck are you considering this for?

The width is workable for a Task Force truck but too wide for an AD.

One thing to consider on any seat is how well centered the seating position is behind the steering wheel. If it is off center significantly it makes it look like an after-thought.

I am considering using this seat time on my 58 project as I do not need it to move up or back, and it provides very good access under it and behind.

A better option would be the front seats with the integrated seat belts and the jump seat that goes between them.

I have these in my 72. I love it. It's very nice, has a middle arm rest and cup holders.

mines a 51 AD...
I had the guy measure it, and the total width of this seat is 56"...
from reading on here, i understand that it is the maximum width i can fit without issue, but it will fit. is that correct?

yeah, but the drivers seat might/won't be centered behind the steering wheel. if you're comfortable with that you're OK.

my truck isnt assembled at the moment, so i cant look at this for myself but...
why cant I just mount the steering column over further?
I mean, the steering column isnt currently centered between the two gauges.... I kind of like the idea of moving it all over some to center the wheel anyway.

has anyone here done this?

Yep you can do that. I moved the steering wheel over to be centered on the gauges when I put the S10 column in the 48 I built.

did that put you "too close" to the door when you're sitting in the truck?
i already know im going to prop my arm up on the window 90% of the time, but when the window is up, am I going to be wedged on the door?

No, I thought it was fine. I'm not huge, about 6' and 200lbs and it was comfortable to me. I actually sold the truck before I got to drive it but sitting in it seemed like it fit pretty natural. There is the issue of the notch in the dash for the column. A guy could fill that in if it bother's him. I think Chevy offset it becasue they used usch a big steering wheel from the factory.

I moved my column over for 2 reasons...1. to center it between the gauges, and 2. so that i could move lower end of the column over a couple of inches for header to steering shaft clearance. I also made a piece to block out the factory column indent in the dash. It works nice and looks right and in no way puts the steering wheel too close to the door. In fact, I find the elbow on the window frame to steering wheel to floor shifter arrangement right comfortable. I don't have a pic at the moment, but I can take one this weekend and post it up.

Oh and I'm using a 2nd row Dodge Durango seat...good width, could be a little wider, but it mounts easily and the seats fold down and flip forward giving easy access to the "storage" area under the seat. It also has a center armrest with built in cupholders and the headrests do not stick up into the window area, which was a must for me.

i think you're right about the wheel size.. never occurred to me, but by using a smaller wheel, and moving the wheel over, my hand/arm would actually be in the same place anyway..

I am already planning on filling in some parts of the dash, i think if i cut the left side of the 'notch' in your pic, and cut out a little sliver, i could make a wider, centered notch, and then mount the column to go through it.. my column would then be about 2" higher then yours.. and since im making the firewall hole anyway, i can then move it to correct the angle. steering wheel angle can still be adjusted by the column tilt function.. plus it can be made to clear the headers easier.. win-win-win.. but sounds like alot more work.. lol.

I speak from experience. I bought the same seat, paid 200.00 for it and bolted it in without noticing how it really fit. Oh yeah it set in there ok but you will not be able to install your windlace on each door opening. I sold it and bought a seat from Wise Guys. Yeah, pretty rich for my blood as well. However it has everything you would want including that center fold down arm rest, two outlets, seat heaters, adjustments and reclines. Total with foam was around 1K but well worth it. Another $400 for the upholstery.

The original seat is 52" width.
56" will fit , but its gonna move the drivers seat Butt pad closer to the door.
I found a Astro van 2nd row seat its 52" wide.
I bought a cloth one for $40
this leather one they wanted $150
