Bowtie Overdrives
Has anyone had any experiences with this company? I'm looking to buy a 700r for my truck, and am considering their level 2 pkg.

Re: Bowtie Overdrives
if they are the guys in Hesperia, CA - I have dealt with them a LITTLE bit, didn't buy a trans from them, but only because I sold the car first. I used to live close by (and will be again soon) - and if I were gonna buy a 700R4, I'd probably go with them. The little bit of dealings I had with them was that they were helpful and responsive. And they can install and set up and check the pressure, etc etc. Hesperia is only about 2 hrs from you if I'm not mistaken (if you're not gonna do the work - I'd take it to them). If you plan to do your own work, then I'd probably go with the least expensive 700R4 with the options you want on it AND with a decent warranty(and they may be the best price out there - I do not know).
Good luck, look fwd to seeing the install! Oops- belay my last, don't know how far they are from you, I was thinkin vegas... sorry. Hesperia is about 1.5-2 hrs sw of vegas in the CA desert. Last edited by jocko; 01-27-2011 at 09:22 PM. |

Re: Bowtie Overdrives
I have heard good things as far as customer service, Classic trucks had a write up about them last year or maybe 2009 when they needed help with adj the TV cable and pressure.

Re: Bowtie Overdrives
I installed a Bow tie Overdrives 200-4R in my Chevelle several years ago. I beat on it pretty hard on the dragstrip, low 13/s at over 100mph in the 1/4 mile with a 350 CI engine, as well as lots of street and highway driving. Never had a problem with it.
I eventually removed it in favor of a TH400 when I upgraded to a big block motor, but I still have the tranny in case it's needed for a future project. |

Re: Bowtie Overdrives
Im planning on putting a 700r4 in my 66 to replace the 400. I'm curious to see if this will increase MPG's? Has the original Eaton rear. Anyone know?
