any experience with this bolt on exhaust?

summit racing is selling a complete hooker exhaust system (less mufflers) for my 65 c-10 short-bed for $199. Two local shops quoted me between $500-$600 for a complete exhaust with cherry bomb mufflers (which cost like $15 each). Summit has the systems for both headers and exhaust manifolds.
I would hate to burn $200 on this thing and then have to take it to a shop and pay them another $300 to get it to work, putting me in the realm of a the custom system that I really want.. I have a friend that once had wicked good luck with complete exhaust systems from summit but it was for a camaro and it was not a hooker system (he said that the pipe was pretty cheap but the fitment was awesome). It would be nice if someone has used this particular kit and knows if it is junk or if it will bolt right up. I do have basic fab skills and a mig welder in my garage. My setup is just a SBC with rams horn manifolds which I believe were factory that year on the 327.

Under the application drop down it states that, that exhaust will not work with manifolds that exit straight down. That would be rams horn manifolds. I have installed this kit on a square body with headers. I would be surprised if this kit would work on a trailing arm suspension without a fair amount of modifications. Both Pypes and Thrush sell exhaust kits for the trailing arm suspension trucks. However I believe they are designed for headers. Check out Sillyoldman's build thread in the '60-'66 Projects and Builds section. He installed the Pypes kit on his '63.

The Thrush part number is 89027. It is 2-1/2" tubing for headers.

I used the Hooker kit from Summit. It is great. It comes with all the hardware, hangers, and 2 sizes of flanges. Here are some photos of my setup. Hope it helps.

Looks like you might have trouble with it in the back if you are running a gas tank in the back of the frame.
Is there enough room back there 66 GTO?

I am running the stock in-cab fuel tank. Under the bed tanks may cause a clearance issue where the tubes go over the rear end.
