im thinking about making a tonneau cover for my bed out of aluminum sheet metal. i have a design on how to support it and so its removable and stuff, only problem is what should i do if i have two tubes welded out the cab into the rear frame. how do i make it go around?

You're going to have to have a joint right where the rear tubes pass thru the cover. You will have to make either half round notches, or longer slots for the tubes. Depends on how the joint lays in relation to the tubes.

If you want the cover to be removeable it will have to be a couple piece. If you made a 3 piece cover and brough the tubes in at a joint between the first two panels it would be fairly easy. Just notch each panel in a half moon where the tube goes through and call it good.

I have a vinyl cover that i'm going have to have stiched with snaps when i do my cage. I think it would look better than aluminum

i can kinda see what you did, thats pretty much what im going for.

i want it level with the top of the bedsides and still be removable.

A friend that owns a sign shop helped me build mine. Its made from black sign blanks that were cut into sections and bent for strength. It has some square tubing for added strength. Its removable but not very easy. The rear section flips up to access the fuel cell, batteries and fuel pump.

if you have the tubes come down at the correct angle (unless set by rules)
you can have a cover that lift up as the hole follows the angle of the tube..
make it like this and 2 piece flanged at the holes center line, and you'll have a removable and lift up (with hinges, like gaylords) to make it easy to load and unload at the track, or for parts runs, and still come off for servicing or if you need to load something taller than the bed sides..
note holes may need to have a little bit of an oval shape to them, but.
you'll have a hinged cover that comes off if need be
