Re: What did you all get done 2/13/11 Valentines edition

Went to junk yard with 87 chevy silverado and his dad.. Great people as well. Bought a set of nice dually fenders, center support and grill brackets for 73-74 chevy truck, and a lower valance thats painted same god awefull yellow as my 79 c30. Less then $100bux spend including gas to get there.. had a nice relaxing day.. dually fenders were a pain removing...

Re: What did you all get done 2/13/11 Valentines edition

Well I got my truck back on all four wheels after going through the front end and lowering it. Sneeked away to get my wife a Valentines card and flowers. After 25 years together we do think alike. We bought each other the same Valentines card!!!! No she did not buy me flowers,,,,, only because she's seen what I did to my clothes after working on the truck.

Great wife to put up with my dirty laundry

Re: What did you all get done 2/13/11 Valentines edition

Finally recovered from a bad flu.

First thing Saturday morning replaced master cylinder - old one had a leaky seal. Bleed brakes twice just to make sure that I've purged all air from the system. Finishing the job before XYL woke up - priceless. Having my truck road worthy again is 'most excellent'!!

Today - nothing truck related - just keeping XYL happy!

Got the engine and trans pulled from the truck. This week I plan to start tearing it down and replacing the gaskets, cam, timing set, and several other things. I may even get brave and take on the proportioning valve while I am at it.

Spent 3 1/2 hours on Saturday washing, polishing, waxing, and then vacuuming away the previous ten days of snowy weather and associated filth off of the daily driver. Even with using a buffer, my arms were ready to fall off.

Re: What did you all get done 2/13/11 Valentines edition

Double sealed 14' of basement wall. Went to cheerleading competition on Saturday. Finally was warm enough to go out in the barn, reassembled the monojet for the 77, started work on the waste motor oil processor for using WMO in my diesel, started sorting out the cast and aluminum from everything else for my next scrap run. Pulled the glows on my 'new' 82 diesel engine, dumped out all the fluids, next is a tear down and inspect.

Washed the truck and realized how bad of shape my wheels are in. Polished aluminum is hard to clean.

<----Jealous, Needs grille brackets so I can put my 74 grille on and post up a similar picture.

2/13 was a Sunday, so I did nothing but stuff my face at Grandma's after church and take a nap

On Saturday though...Did nothing to the 78 or the 67. Put new shocks on the 01, and a coil and new battery on the DD 98 S10. Went to dinner at a fancy restaurant in the 01 with the wife, all dressed up, on the way home pulled a SUV out of a culvert. Teenage girl had missed the entrance to a neighborhood pulling in and went down in the culvert, both back tires were hanging 2ft in the air. After checking on them, I threw a strap around the rear subframe and pulled them right out. Surprisingly no damage other than some scuffs on the rockers and a cracked front bumper.

KrazyRay? I posted in one of his part out threads earlier this morning, haven't heard back just yet. He didn't have any specifically listed that I saw, but he has several 73-74 trucks he is parting.

Pulled engine out of the '77 and tore it down to find the crank had been turned .020/.020 and the bore is STD.

Pumped up the tires at my father-in-law's house where it was being stored, took it for a ride, then took it to the new house and tucked it into its nice new garage. Hope to be able to start working on it a little more now once I get my tools moved.
