Re: Front seat belts

I don't have any pics on hand, but the inners bolt to existing holes in the verticle panel behind the seats. The outters bolt to the floor board. My passenger side didn't have a threaded hole for the passenger side, so I drilled a hole and used the huge washer that came with the belts on the underside.

Thanks for the info. I found the inner mounts now I just need to find the outter ones? Guess I will need to peel the carpet back to find those.

You didn't say what year. But on the 72's They bolted to the lip on both sides of the seat. The outer ones had plastic retractors they rolled up into.

Mine is a 72. I have new retractable seat belts. So if I understand correctly you are saying the 72's bolt to the vertical panel on both sides if the seats?

Re: Front seat belts

I Installed my seat belts this weekend, Everything went well. I had to retap the mounting holes due to build up but no real issues. That is Until I got to the driverside outside belt. Closest to the door. There is no mounting hold in the wall for this belt like there is on the passenger side. So can anyone tell me what I am missing here? I am at a loss. I pulled the carpet back to see if it might be in the floor but nothing there as well.

Drivers side bolts to the vertical wall right behind the seat.

Yeah that is where the others bolted to. Just on the drivers outside there is no hole in the vertical wall for a bolt that I can find. I will have to take a picture tonight when I get home.

Re: Front seat belts

The retractor for the driver side bolts to the floor. Approximately 2 1/4 inches forward of the vertical wall behind the seat and about 1 7/8 from the edge of the rocker panel. Sorry no pics.

Good Luck

Re: Front seat belts

That's right! It is on the floor I believe.

If I can get a chance this evening I'll try and take a picture of mine.

Re: Front seat belts

71jimmy and k5hart, Thanks for the info! Last night removed the door sill trim and peeled the carpet back enough to find the mounting location. PO had fill the bolt hole with silicone. I have to modify my new mounting bracket a little (BFH) to clear the door but should be finished tonight. Thanks again.
