steering wheel to close...

Anyone know how to get the steering column closer to the instrument panel... ive got a tilt out of a monte carlo i believe now ..dont know if they are longer or closer to the driver then any others i could use... thanks for the help...

You could always use an old Corvette column instead... they're telescopic/tilt.

I cut mine down 2 inches. No problems about 4 hours modding brackets etc. I lucked out on the reverse light switch since I am using a 4L60E, it has the reverse switch on it

I was thinking about that wasnt sure if i cut and moved the brackets if that was an option .. I feel like im arm tied .haha just trying to get more room thnx.

I'll try to look later, but I think there is a post in the FAQ forum about this. I know its a concern on the 67-72 and has been done.

I went through this last year. If you check my post history, you can read my whole journey.

My end result was
1. Buy a smaller steering wheel - 13" diameter or there abouts. Makes a huge difference.

2. Bought a column from the good folks at Ididit. Gives you about 3 extra inches.

I'm going the losing some weight route myself lol. I'm a short fat guy doctor said lose some weight so it will save me some cash as well.

You can gain some space by using a flat (non-dished) aftermarket steering wheel. That's what I did on my 65.
