2007 engine problems

I have an '07 chevy silverado with the 5.3.

When i am just getting home from work, pulling into the driveway, i put the truck into park. Turn the key off, and the engine shakes roughly!

It has gotten worse since i bought it about 8 months ago. I bought it from my dad, so it has not been abused. The check engine light is not on.

What could this be? Has anyone else had this problem?

Re: 2007 engine problems

Is it running on, like dieseling? or is it a quick shake? If it is quick it might be a motor mount? Just a shot in the dark for me, but this will bring it back to the top for someone who can answer better than me hopefully.

Re: 2007 engine problems

Sounds a little like a detonation problem to me.
Have you checked the timing, and the ignition components?

How does it start, and how responsive is it while driving?

Re: 2007 engine problems

It shuts off like a diesel, sometimes it is worse than others. It is kind of slugish when i'm driving it (almost like the trans is slipping) but i'm pretty sure that is not the problem. It has 70,000 miles. And no, i have not tried to diagnose the problem, because im not experinced with the newer engine setup. And i wouldnt want to tear into and not know whats going on.

Re: 2007 engine problems

I really dont think that its the motor, I mean that damn light comes on for everything so i'd start with the motor mounts or maybe the trans mount. And you said that it has 70k on it it should still be under warrenty?

Re: 2007 engine problems
