How do I tell if I have drop spindles?

I'm trying to determine if PO put spindles on, how can I tell? I can't take the wheel off because it's on bags and my tanks aren't on ATM and my jack won't go low enough to lift it up. I did measure and with 225/70/15, the middle of the wheel bearing is at 14". Trying to order some stuff but don't want to order those if I already have them. Can anyone measure for me?

Can you cut the wheels enough to look at the back side. Take a pic and let us look. If the axle spud is noticeably off center then its a drop spindle.

Re: How do I tell if I have drop spindles?

actually, a drop spindle will have the spud closer to the center whereas a stock spindle will have the spud towards the bottom of the spindle casting ...

drop spindle ...

stock spindle ...

Re: How do I tell if I have drop spindles?

Could any of you veryify that these are NOT drop spindles?

I'm looking for ways to go lower in the front on my bagged 81 truck, but I don't want Z it or buy a dropmember so hopefully these are NOT drop spindles.

Re: How do I tell if I have drop spindles?

those are stock spindles. notice how the spindle shaft itself is just barely above the lower ball joint. Drop spindles have the shaft higher up on the spindle itself....hope that makes sense

If you look closely you can sell the Belltech logo cast into the backside of them.

As to telling the difference between stock and dropped, to me, it's easier to look at the steering arm. If it's straight out, it's stock, dog leg shaped, it's a drop spindle..

Here are pictures I took of a truck I dropped last year.

Stock spindle, notice the straight out steering arm...

Drop spindle, notice the dog leg downward slant of the steering arm...
