front parking lights

can anyone tell me, ate the front parking lights suppose to go off when you turn on the headlights?

the rear tail lights stay on but fronts don't, is this normal?

all parking lights/ running lights come on when the switch is just pulled one click but when i pull the switch completely out the fronts turn off.

Re: front parking lights

They are supposed to do that. I dont know why they made them like that, but that is what they did.

Re: front parking lights

ok so that problem is solved,

now onto who my turn signals problem.

it does not matter if i turn left or right i get no front turn signals and only one rear any idea where to start on this one? i have the 1964 wiring diagram, but it only says colors and not where things are like the stop tail harness connector, and it is color coded, but does not say what each wire is for to diagnose.

Re: front parking lights

first of all, check your fuses.. if fuses are good (always a good idea to start there even if you do have 1 working), check for power at the light socket, then the connection at the firewall. With the 3 out and 1 on, I am sorta leaning toward bulbs, but check those things first.

1 more thing, it's always a good idea to fork over a little change for an assembly manual, helped me out more than I spent on it 22 years ago.

Re: front parking lights

If he has rear signals but no fronts its the firewall plug at the left side, they have a habit of corrosion...

Re: front parking lights

ok had 3 problems and they are fixed

first thing i found out was someone swapped the connectors around from the turn signal switch to the harness, and the turn signal switch was fried, once i swapped that out i had rear tails lights, brake lights and turn signals, fronts still didn't work, so i checked the little firewall plug and one of the connectors(spade terminal thing) were pushed back out of the socket, once i fixed that i had turn signals on the driver side, then i found a bad splice on the passenger side that fixed that side

i am uber tired of brakes and wiring for a while! ! ! !

also put in a new motor mount today did rear brakes and bleed them all around, installed license plate and light.

just a fyi the turn signal switch is freaking expensive, it was 88 bucks at autozone but they did have it in stock. Everyone else price was the same and they had to order it 2-3 days out.

thanks for the help all. i think i might be able to take a cruise in her tomorrow night if i get new tires for lunch. i wonder if i can fit all 4 of them in my little Malibu....
