Re: steering column repair
Just a quick thought, there are two bolts that hold the steering column to the dash framing. My bolts got loose a couple of times and the whole column moved. This usually happened after ASE "mechanics" worked on it

http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=12525.0 Some chain auto parts stores have the puller/lock-ring plate and bearing tools in their "Rent-a-Tool" program. Good Link Now ^^^^^^^

Re: steering column repair
Take the column apart. Pull the steering wheel then the lock plate. remove the turn signal stuff and go until you find 4 bolts that hold the clamps on the universal joint inside the column that lets it tilt. Pull each bolt one by one add some lock tite and reinstall. Put the column back together and the slop will be gone.

Re: steering column repair
so i tore into this last night then i found out someone had already tried to fix this because the was a bolt broke off in one of the pivot pins so i just tightened the 3 i could without lock tight but got it all tightened up feels like new again but i have to take back apart because i apparently didnt pay close enough attention to the head light dimmer and now my lights are stuck on bright and no tension in the lever but the how to was wonderful... just an fyi unless it is a must to do this right away make sure you have all of the pullers mettioned in captkaos' instructions its really difficult to get wheel and lock plate off and i couldnt make a way to get the pivot pins out especially with the bolt stuck in the one
