how wide can you go
Its time for new wheels and tires for my 70 c10. The truck is a project street and strip toy. I am curious how wide I can go in the rear on the stock width axle and trailing arms. I don't mind cutting the bed I just want to avoid narrowing the axle or any complicated suspension modifications at this time. Truck is stock height at this point but will probably end up with a 4 inch drop or something in the neighborhood.

Re: how wide can you go
you can put a huge tire under there you will just need a wheel with a ton of back spacing. I'm sure some one on here can tell you the actual width and wheel size. I know Hart Rod had a pretty big tire and wheel on his farm truck.

Re: how wide can you go
That's what I had on my last truck but it was a 78. I want to go bigger like in the 14" or maybe a little wider if possible. If anyone can post a setup with Wheel dimensions bigger than 295/50 on a 15" wheel I would like hear about it. I was looking at the wheel vintiques 15X14 rallys but the back space doesnt seem anything close to what I need.

Re: how wide can you go
I think you need like 7.5 inches of back spacing on a 12 inch wheel. I know you can fit a bigger tire than a 295/50/15.

Re: how wide can you go
Well here is what my truck had when i bought it they were 14'' wide wheels with like 9.5 back spacing with 15'' or 15.5'' wide m/t sportsmans on it nothing was cut other than the bed.I woupd think this about as wide as you can go if i remember corectly there was only like an inch or two from wheel/tire to springs.

Dad is running a 31"x18.5", only mod needed are than widening the wheel tubs and cutting the bed to fit said wheel tubs is finding a narrower spring.

Re: how wide can you go
The widest I could fit with stock tubs was a 15x10 with 5 inch backspacing and a 315/60 Drag radial. Truck was lowered 6 inches in back.

Re: how wide can you go
390/45R15 on 12 inch wide rally wheels.
Plenty of suspension clearance but the parking brake cable almost rubs.

Re: how wide can you go
I did the same thing as Doug...I sent out a stock rally and had 4" off back spacing added it was like $50 a wheel...I have put the 31x18x15 M/T's on them with no issues except I had to relocate the E brake cable on the trailing arm.....I can't say if it will clear a stock spring since I'm bagged...but they do clear the outside ( bearly) dumped with a C notch....
I can't figure out how to move pics from my build and since I lost the old puter with the pics I can't repost them..but they're in my build including what I did to tub it

Re: how wide can you go
They are longer, which allows you to route them away from the wheels.
