Anyone got LMC's on door weatherstrip installed?!?
I bought the on door weatherstrips from LMC for both sides to try if they reduce windnoise on my '86s doors.
Now I really can't figure out how to mount them on the doors. I feel really stupid right now... I know the weatherstrips need to be glued in place, but I really don't get the mounting tabs on them. Tried turning them in every thinkable position and I still haven't found what I consider to be the "right" position....... Maybe someone here has them on his truck?!? Pics wound be awesome. Thanks, Erik

You talkin' 'bout item #2 below? Looks like 2 different part #'s for left & right sides to me.
Haven't seen them on doors for a while myself but my old 74 heavy half had them. Junked that one out 13 years ago though.

Yes it's the part number 2.
Got both LH and RH pieces. Even though they're not listed fo every year square I figured it would be possible to make them fit. Square doors all have the same door frame IMO. But I really don't know how they ought to be mounted......

Re: Anyone got LMC's on door weatherstrip installed?!?
i bought those.
"upper auxilary seals"........they required me to use weatherstrip adhesive(glue) and glue them on. the weather strip on the cab didnt need glued from lmc,it had a duel you smacked it on and glue was inside, glued itsself.

Re: Anyone got LMC's on door weatherstrip installed?!?
I know the weatherstrips need to be glued on.
It's the tabs on both ends that that got me so confused. Just can't figure out what to do with them and where to put them. Makes you wonder why they put the tabs there in the first place if you need to cut them off?!?

Re: Anyone got LMC's on door weatherstrip installed?!?
If you can, I'd cut off the tabs and just glue it. on my 87, I had that number 2 piece and the PO had put in the screws and the front screw contacted the cab when you shut the door. plus with no screw holes, the screw holes can't start rusting on ya later.
This is the best pic I have of my 87. I didnt pay them too much attention, as the PO installed them. I liked them though. Last edited by 78 Chevyrado; 04-06-2011 at 08:20 PM. |

Mine has them and the tab ends are screwed into the door, see if you have screw hole or screws where the tabs will line up

Re: Anyone got LMC's on door weatherstrip installed?!?
I got them for my 77. I figured the doors are the same so I'll just make it work. I ended up just setting them aside because I couldn't figure out how they went either. Any way you turn them they don't seem to work. I doubt the trucks really need them though. I just put on the LMC "on cab" weatherstripping and it's already watertight.

Re: Anyone got LMC's on door weatherstrip installed?!?
these are not for water, but mainly for windnoise. with these one, the wind can not get into the space between your door and body and therefor will cause less noise at higher speeds...
