Help needed with my 68
I took some stuff to the goodwill today, but when I tried to start it up it wouldn't start. So I floored It and it started but as soon as I let off It shut off instantly. It took a couple of minutes and started but had to give it gas, and was a little shakey. Got it home turned it off and it started again fine. What do you guys think happen? I thought it might be the fuel pump, but I have to pump the pedal a couple of time so it starts so i know the carb is getting gas. Has anyone experienced this?

Re: Help needed with my 68
There is a chance you have a sticking float needle that would cause you to flood out. Could also be the choke was sticking closed. Not sure otherwise.

Re: Help needed with my 68
Would second the sticking float. Tap on the carb with a screwdirver handle next time it happens. What happens is a piece of dirt gets under the needle then it wont seal, basically flooding the engine. The ride home shook that piece of dirt free. Wouldnt hurt to probably throw a kit at the carb and put on a new filter. If you have a rusty tank or lines this may be a frequent issue

Re: Help needed with my 68
Thanks guys. Should it start without pumping the pedal in the morning? I have to pump the pedal like 4 times and then i have to hold it or it'll turn off. Maybe I do need a kit.
