Dropmember Gas Tanks

Planing on getting a front drop member, I was wondering what tanks are you guys running in the rear. I want to try and find a tank that will still fit under the stock bed floor but give me enough clearance when layed out. This will be for my 79 so any one with square body please reply back.

Re: Dropmember Gas Tanks

A lot of dudes are using a blazer tank between the frame rails. However I had my saddle tanks sectioned 3 inches so that I could keep both my fuel doors functional. I think it looks silly to have fuel doors that don't work. But pretty much any tank that sits higher than the lowest part of your frame (under the cab) should work.

Re: Dropmember Gas Tanks

my truck only has one saddle tank. sectioning it would proably make it like a 10 gallon tank to little for me. But that is one good idea. I will land up shaving the gas tank doors. pictures of your set up dino?

Re: Dropmember Gas Tanks

Anyone have a pic of the blazer tank setup? For the Bagged/DM guys, how far from the ground does it sit when laid out?

Re: Dropmember Gas Tanks

I'm using a blazer tank for my 64 but it's not in the stock position. It's been raised several inches.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: Dropmember Gas Tanks

Mine is the 67-72 variety which is smaller dimensionally vs. the 73-87 blazer/burb tanks (20-ish gals vs. more).

Re: Dropmember Gas Tanks

Thanks Scoti, You wouldn't happen to have any pics of your set up? It mounts under the bed floor? Just tryin to get an idea and best option for my set up... This is the next step for my build

It mounts under a raised bed floor. I could have done the traditional mounting but the tank would have been too close to the road for my taste. I'll see if I have any pics on the camera tonight.

Re: Dropmember Gas Tanks

Check the next issue of StreetTrucks, there is an article on custom tanks for 'dropmember' style builds.
