53 truck..54 bed?

I've got a '53 3100 shortbed that needs a bed, I've found the same in a '54 thats in good condition. What is the difference? Will (can) it mount up? Yes, I've got a torch and welder, but will I need them to make this work?

It'll work. But it is all different except the dimensions(I think). Stake pockets, tailgate, front panel & flat top boxsides.

Re: 53 truck..54 bed?

I have a 50 pickup with a 54 bed on that frame. It will work, but you need to cut the top 2" off the hump on the frame, and make your own spacers, not the 2" wood blocks. The pan between the bed and running board will also need to be modified. I will post up a few pics.

Hey oldman3, do you have a build thread of your truck? I love the topless feature! We need more pics!

Re: 53 truck..54 bed?

ChevyII, just joined in March and have been asked to do a build thread. I will as soon as I can copy my pictures to the computor. Truck as been done about 7 years, so all my pics were done on an old 35 MM, and never put to disc. As soon as I get enough copied I start the thread. Thanks for the interest.
