1963 door weatherstrips - 2 & 4 piece kits

I am trying to figure out what is the correct kit to buy for door weatherstrips for my '63.
There are 2 piece and 4 piece kits. I have seen where the 4 piece kit is for the '60 & '61 trucks but I have also seen ads for the 4 piece kit for the '60-'63 trucks.
I am pretty sure that I can get away with the 2 piece kit on my '63, but what do the other 2 pieces do for me, and can I use them?
Greg.

There are seals for the doors and ones for the cab. Most probably dont use the ones on the doors. My truck does not have them on the door and I get leaks there and it would help. I think the door seals go across the top and down the front edge of the door to about the hinge. I will get some on my next parts order.

Who is using the 4 piece set on their '60-'63 and who is using the 2 piece?
I am interested to find out the pro's and cons of each.
Greg.

on my chopped 61 I did not install the 3rd and 4th pieces... I could not get the doors to stay closed... put the pieces on, and the doors shut nice and tight, must have been just enough outward pressure to keep the latch engaged...

however I have since noticed that all the 62 and 63's I have looked at have just had 2 pieces, not 4

What I don't want to do is spend the extra money for a 4 piece kit and find out that I won't need, or use, the 2 door pieces.
Is the prevailing thinking that the 4 piece kit is not necessary?

Re: 1963 door weatherstrips - 2 & 4 piece kits

The two piece will give you one complete seal around the door. The other two is a double seal for the top and front part of the door. As Jon said, it may be hard to close the door with all seals on there. However, they should mash down in time and take shape.

Im considering buying the second set because of a pass. door leak at the top of the door.

Re: 1963 door weatherstrips - 2 & 4 piece kits

I am thinking of buying a 2 piece, and using some of my existing door seals (which aren't all bad) to make up the 3rd and 4th pieces.
