Why did the cop pull him over? I don't see anything wrong.

Re: Chevy tough!

That police officer had a hell of a story to tell when he got back to the station.

Re: Chevy tough!

he didnt have one of those flag things on the back to tell other cars his load was past the tailgate. just a warning I would think.

What would be the caption on the those pictures?

1st; Bob's discount wrecker service, we can haul that!

Re: Chevy tough!

Cool...

Random thought:
That Chevy is sitting pretty level for such a heavy poor positioned load. To level I say, I call shennanigans.
Questions:
How did they load it?
How would they unload it?
Is it Photoshopped? Look at the truck tires in the second picture.
You know, the Ford guys would say he needs that Taurus in the back for when the Chevy breaks down......

Re: Chevy tough!

Ahh yes. Nothing like a Taurus for reliable, backup transportation. I've had three of those POS's over the years, one of each generation(okay, one was a Sable, but same thing) and they were all basically garbage. Nothing but trouble once they roll past 120k. One liked to eat transaxles, the other two ate power steering components and head gaskets. Geesh. The SHO's were cool though. Not the point of the thread, I know. Rant: Over.

How the heck did he even get that thing in there?

Re: Chevy tough!

actually those colored things by the tires in the second photo might be scales , Ya never know , he may not have been overloaded.. lol And if it wasnt over axle (ya right !! ) then I guess he would only get tagged for no flag !!! actually the cop was seeing just how big of a fine to levy on the guy .... last thought , its 4:00 ,the scrap yard closes at 4:30 ,his trailer has 2 flat tires (it's a single axle )and he has no beer money for the weekend ,I am sure you can see this guys plight ....

Re: Chevy tough!

I'm thinking the C/G is pretty far off that if he went over 40mph the front end would get light and the truck would sway. Look at the dent on the bed from putting the car on it. If it's real it's real scary to see driving down teh road. I'm sure they would put you in prison if you did that in Cailifornia.

Re: Chevy tough!

Reminds me of two things – a bad landing out of Smokey and the Bandit, and the way my ex-wife used to load vehicles. Like the time she wanted to haul 10 railroad ties in the trunk of my 67 Chevelle. I told her no, they won’t fit. While I was at work she did it anyway causing extensive damage to the tail pan, deck lid, trunk opening and hinges. She proudly boasted “See I told you they would fit”, to which I responded “No, they didn’t”.

You have to wonder what that bed side looked like before the car was piled on it.

Well that explains the "ex" part of ex-wife. I think in Texas you could have shot her and it would have been "justifiable homicide".

Re: Chevy tough!

Hilarious! Actually, if you've got absolutely nothing to do and want to have some free weekend fun, fill a cooler, go down to the nearest Home Depot parking lot, and just sit and watch the retards of the world load big mirrored doors into their Sentras, or stuff 16' lumber in through the windows, or tie mattresses to the roof with lightweight twine. It's non-stop I tell ya. I love it!

Like this ?

If I remember there were 6 bags of ready mix in the rear floorboard, Where it sits the rear struts were pushed right through the wheel wells into the trunk....

Yep, but that's pretty extreme. I don't know if it's funny or just plain sad.

Here is one that's a little closer to home. I found it here on another thread.

Re: Chevy tough!

Yep I wanted to lock her in the trunk so she could closely study the damage for an extended period of time, but the hinges were sprung!

You are correct in presuming that is part of reason for the "ex" status.

Re: Chevy tough!

If the guy really was from Michigan , and if he hauls scrap regularly , then more than likely the bedside was already caved in .. Actually for a michigan scrapper the truck looks remarkably good !!! most scrappers around here have the truck buckled in the middle , from trying stunts like that ....

Re: Chevy tough!

The whole hassle could have been avoided if he would have just put on a red flag and turned on his flashers

And yes, those are scales in the 2nd pic. As if they were needed..... trust a weights and measures cop to go by the letter of the law.

We had a wrecker come here and haul off a fiew old rigs we had with one of them dbl decker flat bed car hauler trucks and on the upper deck he put a 77' pontiac station wagon then he put a 81' dodge colt in the back of a wrecked 65' gmc pickup and then wenched all that on to the lower deck of his flat bed and to top it off he towed a body-less 69' chevy frame behind it all. Im sure that was a fun 80 mile trip back to the yard

Re: Chevy tough!

This is hilarious. As a former cop myself i see many things wrong with this picture and I wonder how he made it as far as he did. Here is Texas he would have been busted big time. Forget the weights and measures issues, he would have been busted for too much other stuff. However, I do give the guy a big "A" for his ingenuity, LMAO!!! Kind of like the Marine Corp slogan "adapt, improvise and overcome". He sure did that, almost.

Let's see, this is fun.
Improper rear visibility
No oversize load placards
Improperly secured load
Insurance?
Drivers License?
Obviously overloaded the truck hauling capacity
Info on the car he is hauling?

I am sure there are many more if i knew more about it. These are always fun. It is kinda like dealing with a "happy drunk", you never know what crap is coming next.

Thanks for sharing this bama, i needed a good laugh today.

Re: Chevy tough!

The picture is great, and just became's today's screen saver on my computer.

The more I look at it, the more it seems like a staged picture. To me, there's just way too much weight hanging off the back of the truck, making the cg so far aft that unless the front of the car is bolted to the pick-up bed, there's no way it could stay strapped down. I've loaded big loads into my trucks, and even with the entire load positioned inside the bedrails, the steering was spooky. I could be 100% wrong, but something about the picture looks fishy.

Even still, a Chevy truck towing a Ford is always a comforting sight.
